A peaceful and beautiful walk through woodland to visit a fantastic waterfall. Although there is a incline, the paths are well thought out and (I imagine as I only saw walkers) this makes the waterfall accessible to the less able. There are 2 paths, a shorter and steeper path with steps, and a longer but flatter path that winds through the gorge.
It was February, very quiet, the NT building was closed and only the waterfall paths were open, but it was still well worth visiting. Beautiful!

Out of season so the White Lady Falls walk was accessible with free entrance and parking. The bad weather meant the waterfall was spectacular with the excess of rainwater. A steep stepped decline down to the falls and a zigzag rise return to the car park, you have a choice of decent. The dogs and us loved it.

A pleasant spot for a short walk, ideal for children. Sadly the Devil's Cauldron was closed for safety works when we visited but there was still plenty to enjoy along the course of the winding river including a cream tea at the tea room. The visitors centre is very helpful and will help you decide which route to do.

This is one of the West Counties hidden secret places. the walks alone hold their own, but to see the White Lady Waterfall alone is an amazing sight to behold but then just up the road you walk into a world, that you can only describe as Jurassic, raging torrents, ferns of many kinds, and tendrils of other plants, this is DEVILS CAULDRON, the walk is phenomenal. please go and visit, especially out of season, chech opening times on the national trust website, i got caught out.

Very nice walk, spectacular views, can be slippery in places but worth it, can either walk to the waterfall or drive roun, great lunch in the cafe

This is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places we have been for a walk. First half is a nice stroll through the woods then the second half is along the river. (walking boots a must as it can get slippy on the rocks) all the way round takes approx. 2.5 hours but worth it.
Tea rooms and toilets half way through both sides and picnic tables also.
We have done this walk on a number of occasions now and will definitely keep coming back.

Amazing place to visit. Beautifully maintained by National Trust. The reception staff were friendly and helpful as were the cafe staff. Fabulous circular walk at varied levels. The paths are well maintained but it is rough terrain which you need to be able to navigate. Some areas are narrow, uneven and slippery which adds to the natural unspoilt delight of the gorge. You MUST wear appropriate footwear to enjoy the experience safely.

Truly beautiful and our group of 7 loved every minute. It is managed by the National Trust and cost us £10 per adult to do the blue route (no concessions for students). Dogs are allowed but must be kept under right control.
The blue route is the most challenging. I would not recommend this route for small children.
If weather is bad or too much leaf fall, this would be difficult as the path is uneven and certain parts are closed off when appropriate. The paths are predominantly laid with stone, they are uneven with lots of tree roots, ascending and descending narrow paths, but there are sufficient handrails where needed.
This is a one way system but you’re able to leave at the halfway point if needed, as going back is not permitted. The are toilets and coffee shops at both ends of the route.
It took us about 2 1/2 hours in total, but we are a big group with a very inquisitive dog and stopped to take lots of photos. I would say you need reasonable fitness for this activity but you won’t be disappointed. Fantastic waterfall and interesting tree with 100’s coins embedded over the years, lots of running water all through with great place for photos and utter peace.

You can park at either end of the gorge, (Waterfall entrance or Devil’s Cauldron entrance) car parks at each with tearooms and loos.
It is a circular walk and in one direction only. The half from Whitelady waterfall end is the most picturesque and interesting and also took us much much longer. The Devil’s Cauldron has re-opened and was worth the extra loop. Walking back along the top path was much quicker.
Selecting which end you want to park at means doing the top path or river path first, as it is all in one direction only. We had a nice snack for lunch from the tearoom

I’d say parts of it would be tricky but if you look at the NT site or the handbook or give them a ring you should get an immediate and reliable answer.

Is it only possible to see the gorge and waterfall via going in with the National Trust?
I'm not being tight, just with the National Trust site here being shut under Covid, wondering is we can still get to see the main attraction.

When we went in December the ticket office was closed but there is an honesty box where you can pay to see the waterfall. I think NT outside spaces are open now under CV19 guidance but best to check with the NT.
The gorge walk was closed at that time we visited due to the weather but the Waterfall walk was open. It’s an incredible place.

Best time for Bluebells is probably about now really. Plenty of footpaths to explore. I would recommend taking wellies as it can be quite soft underfoot.
