Steeped in history, you just cant not go inside and take in 30 minutes of yesteryear. Everything an sncient church should be.

Had a very peaceful wander around and inside this fairly large and simply adorned village church. Some fascinating stained glass windows and model of Old Tom Cobley and his mates en route to Widdecombe Fair (a work of passion, now fully restored and displayed in its natural home).

Massive building considering the size of the village but have to admit plainer than I'd expected given that it's known as the "Cathedral of the Moors". Beautiful stained glass window of three Marys and a model of Tom Cobley and all among some of the things to see in here. Very peaceful church - door is kept shut to keep birds out. Well worth a wonder round.

ヘイトアから下りて来たところにある小さな村の中にある教会です。小川が流れていて、羊が草を食んでいるという、とても絵になる光景です。周辺は広場になっていて、木陰でくつろぐこともできます。
なお、ヘイトアから来る場合、B3387が急に下りになる場所は本当に景色が良いので一見の価値があると思います。

As a Barnardo's boy the Name of this Church is evocative for me.
We love this village and potter around the Churchyard most visits, and inside when in need of a recharge.

Because of Covid we were unable to enter the church but outside is well kept; we walked through the commonweatlh graveyard reading the mmeorials of those buried there...a place to pause and conider

This church is beautiful. It is huge, for such a small village. The snowdrops and primroses were out when we visited but the main beauty and interest is inside. The church offers several informative information boards. The church was hit by a devastating lightning strike in C17 and it was commemorated by the erection of huge boards describing events.
The church boasts colourful, interesting ceiling bosses and an ancient painted wooden screen into the choir. There is also a colourful, intriguing animatronic horse hosting "Uncle Tom Cobley and all". It would be fabulous to see it in operation

I visited St Pancras, Cathedral Of The Moor on Sunday with friends. We enjoyed lunch at The Rugglestone In , then walked up into the village to see the church & village.
The side door is the entrance inside, this doorway appears to have been made a lot smaller over the time of its life. The church inside has the history on the church & surrounding area for you to see. I was surprised to see that my married name is carved into one of the tombs of the flooring.

There is just something about this church , the cathedral on the moors that is beautiful. Have visited at so many different times of the year , it just has a pull to go in .
The recent TV series Gold Digger was so featured in and around the grounds .

I made a brief visit to St Pancras church Widdecombe last month(September 2022) and saw a large text in the Chancel/Sanctury but a group were looking at it and reading it so I didn't get close enough to read it myself.. Do you have a picture on-line that I could access so I can read it.
