I brought this bird of prey experience for my wife, as she has had a bit of a rough time lately. We had a little trouble finding it, as the Sat Nav seemed to want to take us round in circles. If they said it was within the Country Life Experience, it would have made life a bit easier.
We arrived and were welcomed into the handling area. We quickly struck up a rapport with Sharon and her team, they were very friendly and quickly put Christine at ease. (She was a bit nervous).
The birds were lovely and very used to being handled. Christine was shown how to hold the leads properly and the staff explained what type of bird it was, how long it had been with Hawkridge, what it ate etc. They readily answered any questions, like ‘where are their ears?’ (not on top of the head, these were decoy ears.) Christine was allowed to smooth the birds that were hand reared, which they seemed to enjoy.
In total, Christine handled 5 birds, each one getting bigger, and they got heavier as they increased in size! We attended the display, which was brilliant. Sharon's commentary on the birds was informative and very funny. Especially when one of the birds started ignoring her! After the display, Christine was able to hold a Bald Eagle, which was very heavy.
It was a wonderful experience; the staff were very experienced and knowledgeable as well as being friendly and funny!

Fantastic afternoon up at Hawkridge Bird of prey Centre for Steve’s Christmas gift from his parents. A wonderful 1/2 day flying experience; meeting the wonderful Baldric, Rocky, Echo, Floki, Flint and Oakley. All stunning birds - all with their own unique characters. Thanks so much to all the team who looked after us for the afternoon! I would highly recommend the experience days, so much knowledge within the team and so much love for the birds

We booked a half day experience for my daughter, Tali’s birthday. We had an amazing afternoon; 1-1 attention, highly knowledgable team, friendly and helpful. Loads of up close and personal time with different birds. We can’t praise them enough; their care of these beautiful birds is exemplary. We have just adopted one of the birds and this makes it so much more a lasting gift for Tali. We will definitely return. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit them if you’re in Devon!

I bought the two-hour hawk walk for my partner for his birthday and didn't realise at the time that it also included entry to the World of Country Life (the Bird of Prey Centre is located within the WoCL). Fantastic value for money. We got there early to watch the flying display which the Bird of Prey Centre put on daily, which was really interesting, with lots of information about the birds. Then we had our hawk walk - carrying bags with titbits to tempt the bird and we interacted with our hawk, Chelsea, for the entire walk, which was across farmland next to the coast, so fantastic surroundings and views as well. Well worth the cost, Sharon and the team are so knowledgeable and friendly, a fantastic day out and experience.

I booked the half day experience as a birthday gift for my partner. From the minute we arrived, we were made to feel welcome. Sharon and Milly were very informative and were happy to answer all questions. Their love for the birds shone through and it was a privilege to be allowed access to these beautiful birds. The whole experience was amazing, I would definitely recommend it to anyone. It was a very cold day but the fire and the hot drinks were very welcome.

Amazing experience for my boys 8th birthday! He held a large number of beautiful birds, well looked after by caring and knowledgeable staff, they were super kind and we will come back soon!! Highly recommend

Been wanting to do a handling session with Birds Of Prey for ages. Came across this while we were on holiday nearby. The experience was amazing. Booked an hour handling appointment but was near enough close to 2 hours experience. Such an amazing time handling the birds and gaining more knowledge on each one. The guides were very informative and very nice. Recommend this experience. 👌

My husband had an outstanding experience! I would definitely recommend the personal 1/2 day experience. He flew several birds, was given information throughout and held several birds. Sharon and her colleagues were extremely friendly and gave that personal touch to my husbands belated 50th present. I cannot thank them enough for the experience he received.

Is the website going to be updated. Rang with an enquiry but was rudely told no such offer was available, was spoken to in such a sharp manner I decided not to continue with the enquiry and ended the call. Had relooked at website and dates were 2017. Wont be bothering again. Will wait until my holiday ends and go somewhere more local and friendly.
