Busy but still a good wonder

£3 for 2 hours or £5 for the day in the car park. If your willing to walk, there is free street parking further way. The beach was busy with people armed with rock hammers illegally hammering at the cliffs. I found it better to walk to the right beach. It’s a lot more pebbly and harder to walk on due to the larger pebbles at the top. But we had some good seaglass finds here. There are toilets behind the harbour masters office.

Fossils..... sun all there

Great little beach, river, bridge, sand, shingle, rocks. wear wellies so you can walk the sea edge, cafe, excellent food, great little museum, visited by David Attenborough himself !!!

Fantastic beach

There is a large car park here. The beach and cliffs are amazing. It is a great beach to explore. There is a cafe, shop and toilets too

If you are lucky you can even find fossils on the beach. Take care near the cliffs as a there have been several cliff slips . Remember to check the tide times as when the tide comes in it can come in right up to the cliff.

This is a great place for adults , Children and dogs.

Amazing pebble beach with stream running through,dogs loved it...great to see the waves crashing up the rocks...lovely walk...great fossil shop and cafe...good walk for dogs...nice to sit and people watch...car parking charges was £1.20p an hour which i think is reasobable...

Hammering spoils it ..

A delightful scenic and peaceful place but spoiled by the cacophony of Amateur Paleontologists aimlessly vandalising the beach rocks with hammers ...
I truly believe this selfish practice should be banned here ..It disturbs the peace for others and leaves unsightly and sharp shattered rock debris in its aftermath ..
If you are coming here to find fossils you should be aware that this section of coast line has been plundered for fossils on a daily basis for hundreds of years and the only real chance of finding a fossil here is to buy an imported one in the adjoining shop ..

Amazing finds & addictive hunting, please stick to the rules!

We have visited several times before, always enjoy having a look around the Free Museum (donations welcomed).
It’s £5 for the day to park and well
worth it.
Plenty of parking but does get full.

**Really important to watch the tide times and pay attention to the rules/advice**

Some utter idiots took their young kids and sat directly underneath the cliffs, allowing them to climb & dig there too.
Then just about 500 yards ahead we all witnessed a huge cliff fall with the debris and smoke cloud bellowing into the sea.
The Coastguard were called and a team came out to check for casualties.

We dug around in the shingle as the tide came on to the shore and found some amazing ammonites!
No need to risk your life.

Toilet facilities and cafe on site back up at the museum.

Sea glass and fossils

Had a couple of hours here relaxing / paddling. Lovely beach. Plenty of parking nearby. Be patient and there is sea glass and fossils to be had too.

We came to fossil hunt with the kids, spent 2 hours looking and didnt find anything, but we had lots of fun trying. Would recommend taking kids here, hours of fun & its free.

Lovely uncommercialised beach , visiting centre, gift shop toilets anc cafre nearvthe car park, but then miles of Jurassic coastline to explore, famous for fossils , but we didnt find any , but kids enjoyed looking
