“Stunningly beautiful”

ได้ไปจัดงานแต่งงานที่นี่ และมันก็งดงาม absoloutley เดอะรอยเปื้อนกระจกหน้าต่างถูกอย่างน่าอัศจรรย์ที่สวยงาม และมหาวิหารก็สวยงามของตัวเอง

เราพักอยู่ฝั่งตรงข้ามถนนเพื่อไปโผล่ในลองดู มันเป็นที่ที่สวยงาม ฉันรู้ว่ามีวิหารขนาดใหญ่ให้ดู แต่นี่เป็นเสน่ห์

this is a very nice cathedral, the stained glass is stunning, staff very helpfull. you have to look for the carved mice in cathedral. Nice town.

Lovely town, friendly people and pretty cathedral. The setting of the cathedral is lovely, surrounded by nice wee shops and gardens. Really a pleasure to walk around.

Worth a visit

Stunning Cathedral in the small town of Dornoch, go see it for the nicely vaulted ceilings alone. Medieval graveyard in the grounds has few interesting tales. Nearby you can see the last place a witch was burned in Scotland!

Beautiful location

I have given this a good rating as although the fine Cathedral was closed the surrounds of the building and churchyard were really interesting. I include the measure for cloth stone right outside the cathedral, the Mercat cross and the general immediate area. Dornoch is a very attractive town. Shame the Cathedral was closed, but well worth a visit.

Looks wonderful but no access inside

The cathedral is very impressive from the outside with many interesting features and especially the gargoyles, but unfortunately no access inside the building at all, so found ourselves appreciating the many stained glass windows from outside which is not ideal. I have no doubt that if it had not been closed we would have awarded 5 stars.

Nice building but closed

Sadly we were unable to visit as the building was closed

Sutherland have taken the decision to close all churches due to COVID

The notice on the door says it could be open but then lists reasons why it’s not

It is a shame because none of the reasons on the list are in any way insurmountable

Feels like the religious authority has shut up shop for the foreseeable future

really lovely place to learn more about the history and enjoy some quiet contemplation very nice minster as well if you fancy a sunday service

Beautiful stained glass windows

This cathedral has beautiful stained glass windows depicting the flora and fauna of the Highlands.

Originally built around 1230 or thereabouts it stood for 340 years until it was set on fire in 1570. Almost totally destroyed, except for the chancel and transept walls, the Cathedral was partially restored in 1616 by Sir Robert Gordon. Between 1835 and 1837, through the generosity of Elizabeth, Duchess-Countess of Sutherland, the restoration was completed and the Sutherland burial vault, which is now sealed.

Well worth a visit !

Lovely little cathedral

If in Dornoch you must visit this cathedral, situated right in middle of town with loads of parking around. Lovely stained glass window and historical significance make it a must visit site.
