Leuk, wel toeristisch, plaatsje om te stoppen onderweg naar Loch Ness om een kopje koffie te drinken bij de sluizen. Altijd leuk om te zien hoe de boten gestut worden.

Fort Augustus on Loch Ness is well worth a visit. You can take a cruise on Loch Ness, visit The Clansmens Centre, wander around the shops or just sit and watch the world go by alongside the canal.

We stopped by Fort Augustus - Loch Ness for lunch during our Isle of Skye tour. Cute little town with restaurants and Loch Ness boat tours available. There is a public bathroom available in the town center but requires 50 cent per person - luckily it also takes credit card. 😁

We took a boat trip on the Loch and also stopped off at different locations while on our coach tour of Scotland. Fort Augustus is the gateway to Loch Ness and truly is beautiful. While on the boat we got close to Urquhart Castle, which was worth the trip in the wind and rain. Even on a rainy day the whole area is stunning you need to experience Loch ness on a boat its the only way to travel.

We took a cruise on the Loch (see separate review) and also drove around, stopping off at various points of interest, namely Urquhart Castle, the waterfalls and Inverness. Even on a cloudy rainy day the whole area is stunning, well worth a visit

I loved visiting Loch Ness! I stayed in Inverness for about a week and saw lots of different sides of it. I took the bus down to Urquhart Castle and enjoyed walking around the site and taking in the views of Loch Ness from the castle site. I also did a boat cruise from Fort Augustus up to the castle and back on the water - that was super fun! I loved seeing the views from the water instead of along the roads. There's also a lovely walk from Inverness to see the River Ness Islands. I definitely recommend visiting in one way or another to soak up the views and see if you can spot Nessie ;)

what views. My first visit to Loch Ness on our road trip around Scotland. Fort Augustus is where we stopped for a snack. We then walked across the road, and followed a short path to see a better view. really worth walking too.

Stayed for a week and went on rib boat up ness and stopped in fort Augusta a few times and area around this watched the boats coming and going up the stairs of the Caledonian canal great here but for June rained both times

Beautiful view and the history is unparalleled. You can't visit Scotland without trying to spot Nessie! The cruise is also very nice - about an hour with beautiful scenery! However, be aware that Fort Augustus leaves a lot to be desired...food was sub-par and each gift shop has a million loch ness souvenirs. Go for the scenery...not the town!

I've seen the Loch in all kinds of conditions. This year it was completely flat and peaceful. I went down first thing on my morning run and it was absolutely beatiful.
