We went as a family to the Halloween trail in the cave mines. The kids enjoyed completing their activity sheet looking for spooky symbols. The sound effects really add to the experience. It was very informative and was very child friendly. We have been to a few caves now and feel that we enjoyed this one the most. It was great that the dog could also join!

Loved this place. Not much advertisement really so I found it with a bit of digging!
But we had a lovely time love that's its self guided, hats and torches from.the shop with your ticket.
Lots of information and love the sound effect could really imagine the miners working there all those years ago.
Lovely little shop got some lovely cheeses and some pretty tiles for presents.

It was a gloomy wet day, so we decided to cut our losses and visit the nearby slate caverns.
We weren't disappointed - we ran through heavy rain to the war and cosy cafe. Staff were welcoming and friendly. We had panini, salad and a cold drink before going into the caverns. Wonderful experience! Everything was well signposted and we felt very safe underground. Fascinating to learn about the slate industry. Well worth a visit!

Absolutely loved our visit to llanfair slate cavern mines . All the information boards and the brilllaint sound effects as you went round really added to the atmosphere and really gave you an idea of what those poor guys had to work in and work with . The lady who runs the gift shop was absolutely lovely as well and made us feel very at ease as I admit I was feeling a bit nervous about being so far underground .
If you are in the area you should definitely pay it a visit !

Visited last week and had a really interesting time. The gentleman at the desk was very friendly and informative. My 6 year old son enjoyed it although wanted to rush through faster than my mum and I did, but I’d say we were in the caves for about 30 minutes. So it’s a short activity but worth the money and was perfect for a wet day. The views were lovely and we enjoyed the experience.

Caverns
Our trip to these caverns was sadly very mixed. The caverns themselves were amazing, breathtaking in fact! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience in the caverns and the staff in the shop were very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend going to see this!
Caverns cafe
Sadly, I’m leaving a 2 star review because of the cafe adjacent to the caverns since the cafe doesn’t have its own section to leave a review. First of all, we were overcharged for the tea because of a mistake however this was refunded (I believe in giving credit where it is due). This was no concern whatsoever and I would not leave a review for this but what we experienced next was quite frankly appalling, unprofessional and unpleasant.
My partner and I purchased some tea as stated so we could eat our lunch. Whenever we go out anywhere, we bring our own lunch because my partner has very, very severe allergies which has previously led to hospitalisations due to anaphylactic shocks. While I know this is undesirable for cafes and restaurants, we believe safety always comes first. This is why we purchased a hot beverage to have access to the cafe and in fairness to the business. We have never ever had any refusals when we have informed the food establishment of our predicament. We were told that we couldn’t eat our food in here because it is a business and upon informing the owner of our situation, we were refused and refused quite forcefully and unprofessionally by the owner raising her voice. Given that it was raining and that they, the cafe, would be liable if my partner endured an allergic reaction or god forbid be hospitalised again, I thought they like all other establishments would show some leniency. When I asked if there is any sign to indicate this rule or policy (online or in the cafe), the question was ignored because there was no sign or policy. If signage was present then we would have been frustrated but understood as it is very clear and we would have just not taken out our lunch (although I believe rules should be broken in extreme circumstances). What was of most annoyance was the owner/managers actions following this discussion as she proceeded to go to the front of the cafe with her employees and gossip about the situation by making it clear that she doesn’t care if this customer leaves a bad review as this cafe has lots of positive reviews - right in front of the public eye!
Just to reiterate, the caverns are mesmerising and worth every single penny. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about the cafe.

Good little attraction when the weather is wet, filled a couple of hours and was an interesting insight into what the poor old boys had to endure in the times before health and safety!
Nice little gift shop and can highly recommend their own cave aged cheeses, very reasonably priced and even tastier still 🧀🤤
They were pleased to accept cash which was nice as I prefer to use cash wherever possible with local businesses as they incur no charges that way and keep 100% of the money 😊

As with other reviewers, this started as somewhere to go to get out of the rain. But it turned out to be much more than that. The scale of these caverns is impressive, the notice boards are really informative and interesting, and going round self-guided (with excellent torch!) allows you to take it all in as you wish. Mediocre expectations, greatly exceeded!

This was probably one of the lowest priced attractions we visited on holiday but was certainly one of the best. What is lovely about this place is the relaxed unassuming way in which they operate and the staff were great. They are not pushy and shoving things in your face but allowing you to wander unguided around the caverns AND you can take your dog! Our dog actually loved being in there and went twice with different family members. You take as long or little as you wish to walk around but there are great information boards to read and a useful torch to thoroughly explore. Very atmospheric and informative. The paths are easily walked and the handrails on the steps are good. Coming out of the dark and into the light and the wonderful view is really special. Bought some of the Caven aged cheese and it is excellent!

Great place to go with your mates.

Not very long. Possibly half to three quarters of an hour in the mine. We had drinks in the cafe as well.

Hi we didn't go so didn't get to find out sorry. I know at zipworld dogs can be I the outside area of the cafe not inside. For the associate bounce cavern dogs are not allowed underground.

The caverns are very large so no matter how tall you can stand up. The passageways between caverns are considerably smaller but short in length so you don't have to crouch for very long.
