Had to play dodge the dog turd and so many irresponsible dog owners with their dogs off the lead and if that wasn’t bad enough be prepared for mountain bikers to come down hill at extortionate speeds and head straight at you forcing you to take evasive action

Steep medium walk up Moel Famau to see the views at the top. Several routes up and down to explore the area and see the views.

As mentioned by a previous reviewer they have cut down a LOT of trees but this isn’t anyones fault, the trees had disease so had to go. Not sure why this would stop anyone coming, views still lovely. I’m quite unfit and made it to the top fine!
Beautiful walk with reasonable parking charge. Could do with being better sign posted though, it was unclear which routes were still accessible with the logging. Also could do with some refreshments in the car parks, there used to be but haven’t seen any lately? We ran out of water and there was nowhere to get a drink, not even a small fountain anywhere. Also needs a lot more dog waste bins. None of this would put me off coming, just needs some improvements.
Loggerheads pub nearby is great for lunch or tea after a walk

We have visited Moel Famau several times and have always thought it was a great walk up to the summit with stunning views. However when we visited today we were disappointed to discover that they are logging the trees that lead from the car park up to half way up the walk. It is such a shame as this initial walk now looks messy and has completely ruined what was a lovely wooded area on either side of the path. To see that all these tress have been chopped down was so sad. Unfortunately for us this has ruined our memory of how this place once was and we wont be returning.

10/10 experience.. we got there around 9.30am on a Saturday. Carpark was empty when we got there however when we were leaving at 11.30am the carpark was full and nowhere for arriving cars to park. So I would advise getting there early.
We took our dog and had a wonderful experience.

Wonderful area, views and experience.
I did my maiden climb by myself. It a fantastic and worthwhile day.
Only issue I had - as a colourblind man, I found I got myself stuck on a much more challenging route than I should have been on :-)

We stayed mainly in the woodland area, good paths nice views over the valley
They seemed to be plenty of parking as there are several different place, we paid £2

A steady, and at times, challenging walk up to the top, though there are alternative routes - an easier one a one for children where they can identify various aspects of nature. There’s a map at the car park so you can plan your route.
At the car park, there are free toilets, play park and picnic benches but note that the car park is £1.50 cash only (we had to turn around and get cash back at a nearby garage!)
It took us 1 hour 30 minutes to climb to the top (we are both relatively fit) following the normal route. Amazing panoramic views at the top where you will find the jubilee tower.

Came here to see the fort sites, the.jubilee tower and ended up doing two hills.
Id you get lucky youncam park.on certain parts of the road are free but couple of car works were very reasonable priced, I paid two quid and the car park was open till 9pm
Lovely for a forest stroll, or reasonable stroll towards jubilee towers Goodmayes and a few benches to sit on, just gets steep on the last leg.
Nice fe areas to sit down to eat and drink and a good old trig point at the top

From the top you have sweeping views of Snowdonia, NorthWales coast and over the Wirral peninsula to Liverpool. on the climb to the top you can see a hill fort on the left of the footpath Moel Gaer.The walk to the Jubilee tower at the top is easy except for the final stage which is rather steep but it’s well worth the effort!

Probably as early as you can. We normally arrive 8:30am ish , there’s 2 car parks, if the forecast is good it’s busy but you should be ok - I’d say the earlier the better. You’ll pass Loggerheads first & that’s also a good place for walking should you struggle to park it won’t be a wasted journey.

No one can travel to Wales at present. Not sure if the Welsh government are going to change it in the near future.
Do people still walk up moel famau on New Year’s Eve and get to the top for midnight? Done this a few years ago and was wondering whether it’s still a thing?

Good morning, want to take my boys out with the dog, but my middle son is an occasional wheelchair user... we did loggerheads Christmas last year and he really struggles without access to his wheelchair. Is the route acesssable for a wheelchair (empty and or with someone in it). My wife wants us out the house lol

Hi and sorry for late reply! Yes Some parts are accessible for wheelchair users but loggerheads just up the road is more accessible and dog friendly! Enjoy 😊

Is it possible to cycle here? We’re coming from near Liverpool Airport. I’m thinking train to Flint and then cycle from there.. are the roads safe for a cyclist? Are there walking paths or roads only? Thank you in adavance 🙏🏽
depending if your on a road bike or mountain bike, roads are fine for both to the car parks from flint.
once your at the 1st car park there is a dedicated cycle path (blue arrow route) this is suitable for a mountain bike, there is advice on the boards in the car park of where bikes can and can't go.
