I attempted Wild Ropes as a mandatory adult, to accompany my kid's birthday party (12yo). I didn't expect it to be quite so challenging - this is probably excellent news for some, not for others! To be clear, this is not something I would normally try and I am not fit. At all. That said, I finished it and was happy/proud that I did!
The staff were fast, friendly and VERY helpful when a just couldn't finish the VERY last step of the second adult/junior course. Thanks guys. I can't say it was my kind of fun, but the kids LOVED IT! - that's why I was there! ❤️

We booked my daughter's 9th Birthday Party at Wild Ropes and we were extremely impressed with the end to end event!
I made the booking over the phone and Issie and Sam really couldn't have been more helpful. We had ten 8 year old girls of varying skill level. I was not sure whether to do the Children's Course or the Junior Course.
After speaking to Issie and coming in to complete the course ourselves a few weeks before the party, we chose the Junior Course which was the right decision. We had half the group speed through in 20 minutes and the other half take more time (make sure you put confident children at the front of the line). The more adventurous girls then did the super high course and loved it! The Children's Course would have been far too easy and girls would have become bored, quickly.
We arranged two Instructors to accompany the girls on the ropes, plus dad, this really is required to ensure everyone is comfortable.
The course is incredibly safe. Ensure you have adults on the ground to observe and meet girls at the end of the course and be on hand if anyone needs to come down early. Very glad we did the course before the party so we knew what to expect and where the end points were.
After the girls completed the Wild Ropes Course (roughly 1.5-2 hours), we had lunch on the picnic tables in the Zoo (ensure you have willing grandparents to find tables early and wait for the party to arrive).
For lunch, we ordered Pizzas through Crust Neutral Bay which were delivered quickly (ordered before the girls finished the course). We then took the girls through the Zoo. Reptiles are always a hit! We had a lovely Zoo Volunteer who then walked us to the Seal Show to ensure we got there as quickly as possible to make the 2pm show (you need to line up from 1.30).
The day started at 9.20 and finished at 3pm.
Bring hats and ensure guests apply sunscreen before
arrival. Hosts to supply lots of water for the children! Bring hand sanitiser. Leggings/pants work best.
A huge thank you to the amazing, patient and calm Wild Ropes Instructors on the day; Winston, Gemma and Alex who ensured the comfort and safety of our entire party. They were fabulous. It really was the best day ever. Highly, highly recommended!

We took my 9 year old granddaughter to do the junior course. She has previously done the possum and koala courses when she was younger. She is small for her age and doesnt meet the published height requirement of 140cm, but when I rang and spoke to Issa, the manager, who was wonderful and couldnt be more helpful, both on the phone and in person, she said they have reduced the height limit to 125cm. They also offer an instructor if you do not wish to accompany your child for the same cost of an adult, which was great for us.
We had Lance was the instructor who was great and on hand if needed. My granddaughter had a fabulous time and outdid many of the adults and older children, who were struggling. We received a discount because we had done the overnight Roar and Snore stay, which I can also highly recommend.

Visited on a hot public holiday Monday - five of us in all, including 12, 14 and 16 yea old. Not a fan of height myself, so questioned whether this was the right idea. It was. Fantastic day with great staff who trained and encouraged us. We started on the low course and then dared to do the high course. We all made it and still talking about the achievement hours later.

This is a really exciting and fun activity for active people that want to be challenged. Climbing in the trees you get to see the animals from above and great views of Sydney.

Unfriendly and uneducated stuff. We came with professional hiking shoes with small air vents. We were not allowed because "All shoes must be fully enclosed". Instead, we got poor 10$ slip-on shoes which were, so used that basically slide off from the feet on their own and pose much more danger than our own shoes fitted to us.
I fully understand the policy of fully enclosed shoes however the stuff should be able to distinguish between very good hiking shoes with small air vents and flip-flops or sandals...
BTW the shoes we got from the park are also not allowed according to their policy "All shoes must be fully enclosed with rigid soles, no slip-on shoes or barefoot shoes (eg,Vibram Five Fingers) allowed"

Great fun had by all of us. It was an extra special addition to our day at the zoo that we all enjoyed with just the right amount of “challenge” in it.

Am waiting for my kids to be harnessed up, we booked for the 11.45 session told to be here 10 minutes to be set up. No staff came until 11.45 and then it's been sporadic with staff coming and going no organisation so everyone is looking stupid while waiting to be harnessed. Does this time wasting eat into you so called hour time limit. After 30minutes we still have not moved onto the activity. After 45 minutes we are finally on. Question now is do we have 15minutes of climbing or do they give you 60 minutes of adventures. Staff are friendly and helpful once you are on the coarse. Management need to get better systems and tanning in to become more efficient

This is a great rope climb close to the city. It’s challenging, probably not as hard as the tree top adventure 40 mins away. Kids can do the normal course as young as 8, as compared to 10 yo at tree top. Oh there’s a kiddie course too for the younger kids.
Love the views of the city and zoo animals.
It’s very safe, and they are strict with rules.
You need to be agile and be able to land on your feet at the end of zip lines. That’s probably the only way to get hurt, if you can’t coordinate landing on your feet!
Some people need to be rescued, mostly unfit adults whose kids are finding it easy!! There’s no way you’d fall. You can sit on your bum and pull yourself across if you have the strength.
I definitely say this is a must do for every family with kids whether you are a visitor or a local! It’s also very reasonably priced. Highly recommend it.

Wild ropes staff were not interested when I fainted after badly hurting my coccyx on their unsafe equipment. The two men who were at the end of the zip line did nothing to assist me or slow me down and did not help and I crashed into the wooden plank at the end of the zip line. I was given an ice pack as I could hardly walk with all the pain. My details were taken at the time of the accident and I sent a letter the next day - to my amazement I have heard nothing back after 7 days. This accident has resulted in two doctors appointments, an X-ray and a week of being immobile.
I have been on many zip lines including with my child and had never previously experienced a injury.
I would strongly recommend that people do not attempt this zip line until sufficient safety precautions have been taken. They take no responsibility or offer any assistance to their clients. Unfortunately I will need to take legal action to solve these problems.

Hi,
How hard is the juniors course? My granddaughter is 8 years old. She has done the children's koala and possum courses previously, but has outgrown these now?
Is there staff to assist as I am scared of heights and dont really want to go on this with her?

1. Distance from City
Wild ropes is closer, tree top is about 40plus mins away depending on traffic
2. Age restrictions: adult course from age 8 at wild ropes and from 10 at adventure
3. Environment: beautiful city views vs lovely Aussie bush
4. Difficulty: wild ropes a little easier this age restriction difference
