This is a lovely little museum, well worth the visit and only 5 dollars entry. I would definately recommend popping in! The staff were so lovely and helpful, Tony even bought me a plant to take home with me, thanks so much! :)

Fairly typical museum for a country town in Australia. Has a large collection of artifacts, and also some local artwork. Upstairs is a recreation of an old flat, which was originally the bank managers.

Was hoping to discover the history of the Kyneton region but the space was being used for an exhibition space instead. The outside spaces were interesting as was the first floor of the building, set up as the bankers residence but nothing that had not been seen before.

Was supposed to be open in April - we came through on a Friday. Didn’t notice on website it’s actual opening date, only April so thought we’d try our luck - no luck. Maybe another time/20yrs (usual length between trips this way!)

Firstly it was not open so inside was not available but the outside was interesting. It is Victoria Heritage listed building built in 1856 as a Bank of New South Wales and now used as a museum. Worth a look if in Piper Street although there were others in Kyneton of equal interest.

Made a special trip to see this exhibition but was a bit disappointed to find it was one small room with a bit of horse memorabilia. was expecting something more.
Having said that, the museum itself is a wonderful venue, with some terrific Old Australia in it.
It is set up like an old homestead with lots of local history and collectibles in it.
Still worth a look if you are in town.

We, unfortunately, had limited time to explore everything but enjoyed the visit. The stories of real people was a fabulous way to present history and make the exhibits come alive. What a tough life they lead!
