Hi. There is only one place near the York park, located across the street from Sgt. York's home. Food was good and inexpensive (double-hamburger for about $6, for example). Otherwise, there are chain restaurants and a couple small family owned restaurants in Jamestown (15 miles away to the SE) and Livingston (about 30 miles away to the SW). Near the park site, you're limited to the one place next to the York site. As for other things to see, there's not much. A similar homesite park for Cordell Hull is about 50 miles north in Kentucky; there are signs to direct you, and the Big South Fork national recreation area. Hope this helps.

Yes, I would allow about 2 hours. The guides were great and the little general store was wonderful. We had the honor to talk with Sgt, York's grandson who was very helpful and made us the best steak sandwich we ever had! What a wonderful day trip from Knoxville!!!!!! Thank you for making us feel so welcome!

I would suggest not going if on meds. I parked at the grave yard to go. There is some climb to get down to path, and the walk can be a bit slick, the ramp up the bridge would not suggest, as a bit steep considering.

The ridge approximately 2~3 miles away.. When standing in front of the welcome center look towards the distance where you see high cliffs and rock. We were told that is where Sgt York went to talk to God.

I believe it was $2.00 per person. WELL WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
