Touring Bastrop main street was pretty fun. They lots of food options as well as music. They have ample parking and everyone is so friendly

I visited downtown Bastrop a few days ago and I had a great time. They have lots of restaurants and eaterys near the river to visit. Tons of shopping is also available for folks who want to buy souvenirs. Review by Gabriel Culiat

We have been coming to Bastrop for years and have always enjoyed going to the historic district to eat and shop. We realize that things have likely changed recently due to the COVID closures, but most of the shops which used to be open look as if they had been closed and emptied out some time ago. There are only a few left and only one open at this time. The saving grace is that Maxine's restaurant is still open and as wonderful as ever. It is definitely worth a trip down to eat, if not to shop.

My husband and I enjoyed walking, shopping and eating in the downtown historical district of Bastrop. We started our trip with a stop at the visitor center on Main Street. A very nice old gentleman volunteer gave us brochures and told us about the downtown area and more. The brochures had pictures, descriptions and locations of historical buildings and homes in Bastrop. That was very helpful. There is access to the June Hill Pape Riverwalk behind the visitor center. Our self-tour was certainly worth 90 minutes of our time.

We actually drove around the area and looked at the houses before we got out and walked through the town. Stoped in a few of the shops and bought a couple of things. Interesting area.

This is a cute historic district to walk through for awhile. While driving through the area, we stopped to eat and then walked around for about an hour. There are some interesting and unusual stores and a few restaurants. I read another review about the lost potential in the area and I have to agree. The area could be amazing with more stores and eateries. Parking was pretty easy, but we were there in the middle of the day on a Thursday.

The District offers several eclectic shops and a few eateries/bars. It’s a nice 2 or 3 hour activity, or more depending on your “shopping tastes.” There are the usual souvenirs and home decor and such, but not as much to do or see as I expected.

I know some of the restaurants are open on Sunday but may close late afternoon. Download the app for Bastrop it has a lot of great information and hours of operation.
