Kayaking the CO with Bastrop River Co is always fun. Water and surroundings beautiful and 15 minutes in, you leave the traffic and noise behind for peace and quiet and unparalleled serenity. No crowds on this river and that’s a delight. You’re picked up at the end, right on time. Such a great trip!

I am utterly appalled at the behavior of the owner of Bastrop River Company. We had a nice time on the river. I wrote a review on a different platform about feeling rushed as we were the last trip of the day and the staff was not being terribly friendly - they seemed agitated and wanted us gone. The owner’s response was juvenile at best. So I dropped the rating lower. Then he proceeds to try to publicly shame me about an email that he claims I sent him comparing the service received to the movie Deliverance. And mentions the terrible sexual assault scene from that movie. I DID NOT email him and am DISGUSTED beyond belief that he would attempt to use sexual assault as a mechanism to try and shame me into taking my review down. I am a survivor of sexual assault and find this whole thing incredibly triggering. Screw you Bastrop River Company. Thanks for tarnishing the memory I made with my sons and family friends. Unbelievable. Unacceptable.

We showed up without reservations on a weekday. Called the number on the outside of the trailer, and Lee made arrangements for us to take a Kayaking excursion within just a few minutes. Outfitted us with everything we needed (including a dry box for my phone and floatation vests), gave us instructions, got us on the water, and picked us up right on schedule.
During the trip, we found 3 geocaches, had some great conversation, and took a little swim in the river.

Just a group of ladies taking a leisurely kayak trip for fun and making memories. The Bastrop River Company made it so easy from booking to check in. We had one newbie to kayaking and even she loved the experience and wants to do it again. We all highly recommend booking with BRC, you won’t regret it!

We took the 6.3 miles canoe and had a great experience. The folks at Bastrop river company were very efficient a d got us in the water very quickly and were also timely in picking us. They briefed us well on what to expect in the trail and they also had mile markers along the way. Overall our family with young kids had good fun.

Sshhhhhh - don’t tell anybody about this great activity or they’ll all want to go! It is such a pleasure to kayak the Colorado with BRC. I don’t think there’s a a kayak trip to be had that’s as scenic and peaceful as this one! From on line booking, to checking in, paddling a few hours and then the quick return - everything is a breeze.

This was a great trip!!!! Will be doing it again!!!! The guys were very helpful!!!! A nice thing to do with the grandkids!!!

We kayaked and had so much fun. There is an "island" between 3-4 mile markers that is perfect for a picnic lunch - which we will do next time. The people working there are super friendly. They help you into the kayak, pick you up at the end of the float and take you back to your vehicle. Highly recommend them!!!!

Pros: Easy paddle, kayaks I'm decent shape, guys before the paddle were very kind.
Cons: Booked 2 to 6pm but asked to be off by 5pm. We got off by 5:15pm only to be greeted by a man with a less than desirable attitude. Offered to help him carry kayaks and was told to stay out of his way.
Likely not returning for that reason.

We are bringing a family of five with a teenager and 9 and 10 year old boys - debating the short or long trip? We are all in fairly good shape so I worry the short trip will be over too quickly but the long trip may be too hard and wear them out .. any suggestions?

I suggest the short trip. There are places to go ashore and do some exploring during the trip.

Yes, very family/kid family. These are sit on top kayaks, suggest putting small children in a double with an adult. There are spots where you can pull over to rest, picnic, etc. We spent about 3 hrs on the river.
We like to tube, but my wife has a shortness of breath and bad back. My question is: On your entry and exit points is there any high climbing, or high/steep stairs to navigate? Also, do you pick up and return to starting point? Thanks for any info you can provide. R. Martin

Hi,
We did paddle boarding for one hour. We walked down an easy hill to the entry point and just stayed in that area. I don’t recall seeing tubers. The walk up the hill when we finished was not hard. The main things you should consider are the heat and the sun. I recommend an early start.
