This is a good state park for a fun little getaway from the city. There are hiking & biking trails, a nice little swimming area with a grassy area for sunning or picnics, and fishing from the lakeshore. We stayed 1 night in our travel trailer at the beginning of a long RV trip. There were very few people here as it was a Sunday night and temperatures were 100+ degrees. The grounds are immaculately kept and the rest rooms in the campground were spotless. If you live nearby, and the weather is agreeable, this seems like a perfect place for a little outdoor fun. It was also great for an overnight stop while traveling across Texas. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 due to the quarry just outside the entrance that starts operations pretty early in the morning, which may be disturbing to some visitors while camping. Did not bother us at all. I'd stay here again when en route to another destination or if I lived nearby.

We came to swim at the lake, which is great for small children since it's shallow and has quiet waters. It wasn't crowded on a Saturday in August.

Had a great weekend at Cleburne State Park while I was camping. It was one of the cleanest parks I have been at including the bathrooms. Plenty of hot water. I was surprised by the tent camping fees $20/night, however there is electric at each site. The camping spaces also have a good distance between them and are not totally packed together. The lake is beautiful and can swim with clear water. I loved all the hiking trails though. There are a lot of them and most are not super easy. One is pretty easy but several are better hikes. I will go back and highly recommend.

We visited Cleburne SP at the urging of our children as a way to get together during the coronavirus scare, while doing our bit for social distancing. It is what I think of as a “suburban” state park, being 10 miles from the town of Cleburne and about 30 from the DFW Metroplex. I was pleasantly surprised to find few signs of civilization intruding on the camping experience, with one exception I will cover later.
My wife, our 2 small dogs, and I arrived a day before our children & grandkids, allowing us to get checked in & set up our travel trailer without an audience. At that time, the park was limiting reservations for camping & limiting the number of campers at each site, so we felt nicely isolated.
There were trails close to our sites, and there was a swimming beach on the lake we spent one day exploring. Trails near the dam & CCC-era spillway reveal fossils in the native limestone. The entire lake is a “No Wake” zone, and is popular with fishermen. Plenty to do over this long weekend.
Our campsite was in an area known as The Keyhole, a cul-de-sac with only 8 campsites, half of which were empty to comply with distancing requirements. Water & 30/50amp connections, but no sewer. The dump station was only about 150 yards from our site, and there are sites with full hookups available in other areas of the park. The next day, our children showed up, and we had a vacant site between us, giving a well protected area for children and dogs to play.
There were a few quirks we discovered here which didn’t stop us from having a good time. Throughout the park, many of the campsites, including ours, have the picnic tables & fire rings on the “wrong” side of the trailer/rv. Sites are paved, but ours was very unlevel, both side to side, and fore & aft. It just took a little extra time while setting up.
The one big distractor we encountered was a large(twice the size of the park)quarry operation which shares a 2 mile property line with the park. We discovered the sound of the plant is somewhat audible throughout the park.

Scheduled a 4 day weekend with some friends. It was a little chilly the first night but each day got better and better. The trails are wonderful and would love to just go and hike all the trails. The camping spots are just great. The dump station was easy to get to. Woukd love to come back.

We go to this park at least once a month ... it’s a beautiful and quite and clean park ... lake is just the right size for fishing and paddling without speed boats ... hiking trails are will maintained and campsites are spacious and staff are friendly and helpful

Super glad we decided to come out here. I'd been seeing many photos online, it looked spectacular, let me say that in person, it's way better. Only $5 per adult to enter the park. There are many area to park your vehicle and sit and swim or climb the hills. There's an area where you can set up and swim. We drove around and saw that there are locations for camping, and places to hook up your RV. Great family fun. Highly recommended.

Full hook up sites are very unleveled.
Not just mine. but I watched others have a tough time.
Slow office check in even with preregistration.

If you are needing a great place to host a family reunion, I would suggest looking into this state park. They have a dining hall w/ tables/chairs that seats a large group and nice cold a/c. Each side has 2 dormitories with bunk beds and restroom facilities. These are all private to your party when you rent the entire 3. There is a variety of things to do there that keep everyone involved. Bring your kayaks and you can let in right behind the dining hall, there's a small lake you can swim and tube in that is within walking distance of this as well. There are some hiking/biking trails also here, so really it is a very fun place to hang out and chill for a nice outdoor vacation. The internet/phone service is sketchy, at best, so come prepared to have no contact with the outside world for your stay. Honestly, it makes the experience even better because kids are screen free and usually end up enjoying it way more than they expected.

At least 2 reviews mentioned a terrible night noise from the lime plant nearby. If you stayed overnight in a TENT, what was YOUR experience? I am camping with the person who has sleeping issues.

I don't think there is a limit, unless you plan on living there. If I read right some where it "might" be 2 weeks, but as long as you pay I don't see why there would be a limit. You can always call and double check.

Are there any RV sites close to the lake?

Yes! The one we stayed in was set up for an RV. All the sites on that loop (Poplar point - I think), have 30/50 Amp and sewer hookups! And those sites all have lake views/access.
