Wir haben spontan auf dem Weg zu den Stockyards hier angehalten und haben uns dieses Museum noch angesehen. Das parken war umsonst und der Eintritt gerechtfertigt. Dieses Freilichtmuseum über das Leben der Siedler ist für mich ein schönes Beispiel dafür, was mir grundsätzlich an vielen amerikanischen Museen gefällt. Sie sind häufig sehr interaktiv. Nicht nur gucken, sondern anfassen und mitmachen. Man konnte in einige der Häuser reingehen, an jedem Haus gab es eine Person die uns etwas über die Zeit erzählen und zeigen konnte. Ein tolles kleines Museum, durch die Möglichkeit der Interaktion auch sehr für Kinder geeignet. Nebenbei haben wir hier von einer Frau die sich sehr lange mit uns unterhalten hat mehr über die texanische Geschichte erfahren, als in dem ganzen übrigen Urlaub.

Was a little skeptical of this attraction when we pulled into the parking lot but turned out to be very informative and interesting. Well worth the time. The friendly “inhabitants” answered all my questions and helped us to understand how life was when these structures were originally occupied. Very knowledgeable group. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Si vous aimez l’Histoire, la vie des pionniers et êtes curieux ; n’hésitez pas !
Quelques cabanes en rondin , avec reconstitution de l’intérieur, et dans la plupart une personne en costume explique ce qu’elle fait : Rouet pour le coton, tissage, confection de chandelle, objet en bois ect…
Toutes les explications sont données avec le sourire et gentillesse .
Vous pouvez même posez des questions " hors contexte" et apprendre comme nous l'histoire du Texas et de ses traditions .

Only half of the waterfall was working.
I was told that is the way it works since its opening years ago. Aparently ther was a tragedy there as explained by a plaque on the sidewalk.

The staff characters who demonstrate crafts and discuss the history of the buildings are great! The folks in the gift shop are friendly. The buildings and contents are fun if you're into pioneer era articles.

We spent time wandering through the old log cabins, leaning about life long ago. The interpreters were very informative and gave great insight. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. We picked up a few crafts that were made on-site by the interpreters.

The Log Cabin has so much history. There are so many things to see here. Be sure to walk the herb garden.

A treasure! Different historical buildings recreating log cabin life in the later 1800s, including a one room schoolhouse, blacksmith shop, mill and herb garden. Costumed guides at each building explain and answer questions. Tree shaded walkways helped with the heat. We really enjoyed this.

Experience history at each building! You can buy an explorer's pack when you first enter the porch. At least buy the dripping candle. Two tiny twin girl introduced me to some darling snails near the herb garden! So don't skip details! A few of the buildings were closed due to remodeling or the pandemic. But adorable museums with knowledgeable guides!
