If you grew up playing video games in the 80s & 90s then you gotta check this museum out. 17 stages of video game history that's interactive. Walk through where it started and enjoy the timeline of classic games & characters. At the end of your tour you visit a 80s/90s themed retro arcade which takes real tokens.....Nostalgia!!!

The museum was interesting. Plenty of old time consoles and with some informative information. After you enter, there is a large screen screen showing Pong, which is quite appropriate. Two very large knob allowed each player to control their side of the action. We all had a great time playing! Amazing as it just a simple game but it is still a fun game. As you toured around we saw many old time items, Game Boys, Atari 2600, Commodore 64, Switch and plenty of other consoles/computers. Once your self paced tour was coming to an end, you entered their Arcade. They give you 4 tokens when you enter, so everyone got to play their favorite games or their parents favorite games. Pac-Man, Ms Pac-Man, Frogger, Q-bert, Centipede, Mission Command, and many others. You can purchase more tokens as you desire. It was a stroll down memory lanes for the older folks and the younger people got to see what they grew up with. It was fun.

There are so many interesting and interactive exhibits. It looks amazing and the history/facts you will learn are life-changing. If you love video games it is must see.

During our vacation to Texas I was looking for a few things to do indoors since the weather was so hot and miserable. I came across the National Video Game Museum. What an awesome little place for the money. The museum was very interactive and you were able to try so many gaming consoles. My children ages 9, 10 and 13 loved it. When you pay you receive 4 tokens to use at the very end to try out some of the older arcade style games. I even got to play “duck hunt” from my childhood days. My husband had just as much fun as the kids. The total time in the museum is anywhere from an hour to two hours. You can stay as long as you like and enjoy all the games. There is no time limit. If you are ever in the area and have video game lovers I’d recommend going.

Definitely a blast from the plast. Loved watching the kids faces when they saw the old school tape player, controllers and video game head sets.

We had a great time playing games and showing our kids things from our youth. Husband had a huge grin the whole time we were there. Very nostalgic. Loved this place!

great place especially for anyone who grew up with home videogame systems like atari and intellivision and then had kids who grew up on playstation and computer games. Shows the entire history of gaming with stations to play games from various eras and then you r tour ends in an arcade with cool arcade games.

We took a last minute detour from a looong road trip to see this and it was worth it. We made it with 45 minutes to close which was enough to see everything but we could have spent hours in there. Lots of old game systems set up to play which my kids loved (and husband). Kids are 7 (boy) and 12 (girl) and both enjoy gaming, and my husband is a high school esports coach, so they were in heaven. It was fun to play duck hunt again! And the arcade at the end was great and so fun! Nice little gift shop at the end where we dropped too much $$ but oh well lol. Gotta have a t-shirt! Worth the time and money for our family!

This was so much cooler than I had hoped. I'm so happy that such a place is in Texas. An awesome time. Make sure to plan some time to enjoy it all because there's a lot! Don't miss this!

This was one of the coolest experiences that I ever had...great way to spend a day...all information and assets related to videogames from past to present are a part of this museum..you get 4 complimentary coins to play arcade games...a lot of old games are free...I got to play duck hunt once again..and spent a lot of time there..There is a cool store towards the end where you can pickup some stuff..I liked the contents..Tip: visit on a weekday when there is no rush and you would be able to read, play and enjoy all of it...My best take was Duck Hunt and Metal Slug...photography is allowed so bring your best camera..You wont get another chance here...

Plan for at least 2 hours. Take time to following the stages of development exhibits in order. The jumps in technology, in such short time spans, is amazing and helped make playing the evolving games more enjoyable!
