Very nice and very large park. Sadly, I believe this beautiful obelisk monument is gone. Also, you have to pay and go in the zoo to see the Gold Star Family memorial - assuming it’s still there because we weren’t paying for just that. So ridiculous!

It's a very fun park. Huge. Room for distancing. Big kid swings. Every thing is sturdy enough for adults to join their kids. I'm nearly 300lbs and have no problem following the kids.

Went here to have a nice morning walk. It has a very nice playground for the kids, A cool little train, and a very nice swimming pool. A walking path would be nice, we we made do.

We were returning to OKC from a long weekend in Dallas and were searching for a place to let our toddler burn some energy. My wife found Leonard Park and discovered it was not only right off of I-35, but that they have a train that goes around the park! Our toddler, being obsessed with trains, was SO excited! There is also a zoo and water park, neither of which we had time to visit. The play ground was large and fun, however, and the train ride was fantastic for $2. A great park is hard to find and I am so happy we found this one! We will definitely stop again when traveling by!!!

This park was such a nice surprise to find while my mom, son, and I were out for a drive checking out Gainesville. My son really enjoyed the park and we are looking forward to our next trip to go to the zoo and we plan on having a picnic under all the nice big trees at the park.

Since I grew up in Gainesville, I’ve been going to Leonard park for over 50 years. I love the big trees and shade. The pavilion has been a great place for gatherings always. The zoo and pool are right there. The baseball fields are nearby. I went to Camp Fire meetings in their little building there. I even worked at the pool as a teenager.
This park has changed since I was a kid. The merry go round and other “dangerous” playground equipment has been replaced with the coolest wooden play area I’ve ever seen. There’s a little train ride that goes around the park. But basically, it’s still the same beautiful, shady, picnic and fun place it’s always been.

The Frank Buck Zoo is the center attraction for all ages in the park and there is ample playground equipment for the youngsters. In addition there is a swimming pool all concentrated in the Park. They have a small train that circles the entire park for everyone, young and old, but it's temporarily out of service for repairs.

Took three youngsters to Gainesville to go to the zoo. When they saw the playground equipment in leonard park they insisted on seeing it first. I have never seen more laughter and smiles.....they played for about an hour. Then they went to the zoo where they couldn't get enough seeing and feeding the animals. We left for lunch and they wanted to go back. We did and they played until they were exhausted.
Sometime later I met an exmayor who told me all the playground equipment at the park was built and paid for by volunteers from Gainesville. It is in the center of a beautiful park covered by old hugh pecan trees. A great place to visit

When we visited on a Saturday, the place was packed for some youth sports games using the fields and there was almost no parking left. Parking around the zoo is limited as well. Otherwise, this is a nice park to visit.
The super-cute miniature train runs Monday through Friday 10:00 am – 2:30 pm, Saturdays 11:00 am – 4:00 pm, and Sundays 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm. It costs $2 per person to ride.
Although we didn't visit Leonard Park Aquatic Center since it was closed, it looks small (2 slides, 1 pool) and I can imagine it gets very packed during summer hours. It costs $5 per person to get in.
The playground next to the zoo charges admission. The community playground does not.
There is also a memorial to confederate soldiers erected by the Daughters of the Confederacy near the exit.

We take the grandkids to Leonard park often and they love it. Lots to do on the playground, a small train that goes around the whole park, as well as a pool and a zoo. Lots of fun for all ages
