What an amazing building, library and gift to Houston. Thank you, Mr Lanier, for allowing us to visit and study there. No books may be taken out but the public”s welcome to go there and read them on site. It’s a gorgeous and welcoming library filled with thousands of books on theology and related subjects. They also house the largest collection of C. S. Lewis memorabilia in the country. The grounds are equally as beautiful, including a small chapel with gorgeous frescoes. One note to mention: you must go directly up to the main gate to enter and actually call the library. They will then open the gate and direct you to parking. Well worth a visit to this hidden gem.

This place is really stunning, with a gorgeous library and chapel and some interesting biblical artifacts. It's a perfect place for theological study.

I wasn't sure what to expect on this visit. The grounds and buildings are amazing. So much attention to detail and authenticity. I would recommend the guided tour to really maximize your visit. I don't think this is a place you would bring children or immature adults.

Beautiful library, grounds and resources! All sorts of resources here but even if your not conducting research it's well worth visiting the chapel the library and the grounds! We had about 14 in our group so we arranged for a tour which was free but this is not necessary. An individual can visit anytime just push the button at the gate ad tell them you want to look around.

The library is Oxfordian, full of wonderful resources and reading nooks. There is a Byzantine style chapel on the property as well where guest speakers give lectures.

This beautiful library, the extraordinary vision of one outstanding philanthropist, will transport you to the medieval libraries of Oxford, England. The Lanier Theological Library describes itself as a growing resource for all students and scholars of the Bible in Northwest Houston. The library houses a comprehensive collection of books, periodicals, historical documents and artifacts with topics ranging from Church History and Biblical Studies to Egyptology and Linguistics. It also regularly hosts events with noted authors, guest lecturers and researchers. While you are on the grounds, make sure to take a look at the magnificent chapel, modeled after a Byzantine church!
