Guillaume is exactly what you need to get some good fishing in at Castellane. Very patient and his English is very good. He's able to describe technical details and the science behind fishing concepts and was very eager to impart his appreciation and knowledge of nature. There were three of us (adults) so it took time to juggle between us all the entire day but Guillaume did really well to spend equal amounts of time with each of us.
Guillaume brought us to the best spots with the highest likelihood of catching fish, gave us pointers on where to cast, and gave us some insider/local fishing tips. He also spent a lot of time teaching us Tenkara, a Japanese method of fishing that is quite simple for someone inexperienced with fishing. We were able to catch quite a lot of fish using Tenkara, even more than with the fly fishing and spinner equipment we brought along for this trip. It was very fun to learn something new and have so much success!
Highly recommend that you buy the licenses before you meet with Guillaume. It takes a little while to do (30 min, turned into a bit longer) and by doing it earlier we saved time that we in turn spent with Guillaume. Definitely show up right as the tourist office opens or the day prior to meeting with Guillaume. Guillaume did offer to provide waders and fishing equipment but we brought our own.

Guillaume was one of the best guides I have ever had traveling. He was an expert on the nature and history of the region. This was also my first time fly fishing and he helped me learn two techniques and I had so much fun. One of the other wonderful things was that he was not afraid of silence and knew when to coach you and when to just let you fish. This region of France is amazing!!

Fantastic fly fishing for wild trout, 25 beautiful fish in 2 days. All with the great guiding skills and local knowledge of Guillaume Durant. Highly recommended.

J’ai passé avec Guillaume une excellente journée de guidage. Il est pédagogue, patient et ses conseils sont de grande qualité.
Il m’a permis de débuter sereinement à la mouche, me faisant découvrir la technique, l’environnement, des lieux magnifiques et s’est adapter à mon matériel.
Je recommande vivement, un vrai professionnel, à l’écoute, passionné par son métier et la transmission des ses savoirs.

Superbe journée d'initiation à la pêche à la mouche avec Guillaume. Mon fils et moi même avons adoré. Guillaume est au top comme guide et super sympathique. Aux petits soins et avec bcp de pédagogie. On refera avec plaisir. Merci encore...

Demi journée effectué avec mon papa pour Noël.
Guillaume est une personne très agréable,souriante, pédagogue.
La journée c'est très bien passé je le recommande a 100%.
Le matos proposé est propre et de bonne qualité ce qui est bien pour passer la journée dans l'eau.
Nous reviendrons l'année prochaine !

Had a fantastic guiding day with Guillaume at the Verdon! Guillaume is a very knowledgeable guide and patient as well as friendly teacher.
I can highly recommend Guillaume as a guide for everyone who wants to progress and have a wonderful day!
I will surely come back for another day or half day of guiding!

Can’t recommend Guillaume enough. I had a full day guided fishing. Even though I was experienced in fly fishing I thoroughly enjoyed the day. I learned more in my technique and the local environment. Guillaume is the perfect host, excellent English and patience. Put me on the fish and read the river excellently. Another 10/10 from me

Guillaume set us up for a great day in the Verdon Gorge outside Castellane fishing for native trout. He brings strong communication, patient guiding skills, and deep knowledge of the area and its fishery. He accommodated our different experience levels, kept us on fish, and took pictures for us, too.
It was easy to check in with him about the day and what we were hoping to get out of it. Couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful spot along the Verdon Gorge, a nicer day on the river, or a kinder guide. Thank you, Guillaume.

Guillaume is an outstanding guide and I throughly enjoyed my half day being guided by him! He speaks EXCELLENT English and was able to communicate Re all the subtle nuances of this spectacular fishery. Breathtaking scenery, beautiful waters and willing wild trout. Even if you are an accomplished fly fisher, I would definitely recommend that you hire Guillaume as he will shorten your learning curve on these waters massively.

Hi, it is always best to fish catch-and-release. Many rivers in Europe cannot sustain a natural fish population because too many anglers still do not release the fish. Be kind for your fellow anglers and most of all for the fish :-)
