Lovely Vermont bookstore. The Vermont Bookstore is an adorable bookstore located perfectly in the center of Middlebury. The staff were very friendly, and the selections were great.

This is a great book shop, right in the heart of town. I always stop when passing through, I'll go to Middlebury early to visit the shop when I have another event or activity in Middlebury, or make a special trip to town JUST to visit the shop. Not huge space, but bright and comfortable, well stocked and great staff.

I think I've been going to the Vermont Book Shop almost as long as I've been able to read. I'm not sure how many decades it's been around but it's a testament to the quality of the store that it's still around.
Any shopping trip in Middlebury absolutely must include a visit to the VT Book Shop. Besides books they have some toys, cards, music CDs, and other random items. The store is frequently a savior for me when I need to buy gifts, but I also buy books for myself as well. If they don't have it, they can order it and it'll be in in just a couple days. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and can make suggestions.
In this day and age of Amazon it can certainly be tempting to opt for convenience and save a couple bucks. But do yourselves and everyone a favor and opt to shop at the VT Book Shop instead. They are a wonderful business and it'd be a tragedy if they were to ever disappear. You even get a periodic coupon if you're a frequent shopper!

What makes this store special is the quality of the books, recommendations and staff picks, variety, fun small gifts, workers who seem to really enjoy their job, central town location, organization and service. I went out of my way to purchase items there because I simply loved this bookstore.

A nice local bookstore with lots of local authors and titles. They also have a new title section and I was able to score a biography on Gordon Lightfoot that I did not know was out. Staff was very friendly. Check it out and support local bookstores!

This small bookstore is just nice to go into a browse as well as buy. There are many local artists featured and often times the local author has events there to sign books and discuss the book.

Conveniently located in downtown Middlebury with a great selection and friendly staff. Store has been there for over 60 years and offers a wide selection of adult and children's books.

Wonderful bookstore and great staff. On a recent overnight visit to Middleburg I was delighted to find an independent bookstore. No cookie cutter chain shop is this store!! Many great books of course, added to myriad possibilities to look at and buy - almost a sensory overload. I ended up with a Vermont magazine, a CD of the Silk Road Ensemble, many greeting cards and a book mark. There were great selections for children, local authors and local history and information as well as new releases and old favorites. The staff is very helpful but not obtrusive. Wishing so much this was in my own town. I'll be back! For a smallish shop, it has much to offer.
