A Glorious Find!

Found this gem during our weekend adventure in Northern Vermont. A mile away from Canada, thousands of miles away from craziness is what they say, and it's so true.

The indoor space of the tasting room and the restaurant is designed with a modern approach to a rustic Vermont cabin look and feel. It's both simple and complex and feels just right.

The brews are fantastic! They need to get more publicity. We felt that they can give some of big Vermont breweries a run for their money. Black Spruce Imperial IPA is out of this world. Mild, has a bit of a gin zing, a rich translucent amber color, and a whole lot of yum. Other brews are extremely drinkable and delicious as well, you just have to find what songs to you in the moment.

Jenn (one of the two hands-on owners) is a gracious approachable host and a pleasure to chat with. We will be back soon!

Good beer, great music

We visited on a Saturday to relax, drink some new beer, and enjoy the band. We had a great time. Beautiful setting on a rural northern VT farm.
I gave four stars instead of five because when I asked for small samples of two beers, I was told most people just buy a flight and then decide. She was clearly not going to give us a taste. If I’d wanted a flight, I would have ordered one. Figuring this is some weird policy, we guessed what we might like. Later I saw the bartender giving other people tastes, so when it was time for more beer, I again asked for a taste of a particular beer. I was poured a four ounce taster which I discovered when I looked at my online receipt the next day I was charged for a flight. Almost $50 spent on beer and not one sample to help me decide. Just a $6 charge for a four ounce taster.
I go to breweries all over the country and have never ever been denied a small taste before deciding what to order.
Nice people, owner was really nice, but that was weird.

Stuck in the middle of nowhere, the range of beers available was impressive, and speaking with Brian (owner) was a treat. He experiments a lot — some work well, others less so — but you have to admire the initiative. The beer quality is good, and the prices are darn reasonable. The tasting room has a cabin-in-the-Woods vibe. If you’re in the area, it’s well worth a stop. Clean toilet. No food.

My husband and I had been meaning to stop in, but don't often find ourselves in the area. We finally had the opportunity this weekend and were excited to try a few flights - the beers listed sounded excellent! Unfortunately we were disappointed by many of the pours, the flavors tasted as if they had fake flavor additives. I have had coconut beers in the past that authentically tasted like coconut - their coconut didn't taste remotely like the real thing, it had a very caustic quality. The heath bar was similar, it tasted like the flavor had been achieved by an artificial syrup. The maple brown, the nut brown and the red were all more palatable, but still nothing spectacular.

The ambiance is great, it has a cabin-vibe inside and eclectic decorations. They had live music, which was excellent. We had hoped to get a bite to eat, but the food truck on site for the evening was a rickety camper - might have been delicious but it was just a little off putting.

This definitely felt like a fun place to hang out for an evening, but in a state of amazing breweries, the beer just wasn't up to par.

The beers are totally different and tasteful. Saturday night there is music, can be loud, but this a pub. They do have some pub food, not full meals. The bartender is very helpful in advising you on which beer you might want to try. Will definitely go there more often.

Boy, have they grown over the last six years--but still "one mile from Canada and a million miles away from anywhere else." Twelve beers on draft, food truck, and friendly service and stories. Hours are a little quirky, but no matter when you go you will feel as though you are,indeed, drinking like (and with) Vermonters.

Went hoping to have dinner only to find out they don’t serve food. The beer was extremely overpriced and not that great. Bartender put someone else’s beer on my tab without asking or saying anything. 2 beers totaled $26! Yikes! I didn’t know water was that expensive. Also bought a shirt that was listed as $15 on the wall but was charged $20?????
Definitely won’t return here!
