Stayed at the Hickory Shelter for 3 nights while we explored and paddled the area for Fall color change. Park reservation prices are fair. This is a nice little compact State Park along the Connecticut River. It has water access, kayak/canoe rentals in summer. Firewood for sale and limited hot showers which take quarters. Park staff friendly. Park well kept. Convenient to I-91. Can use mirror tag to get into Ascutney SP. A very pleasurable stay.

Been going to Wilgus SP for years now and have no plans to go anywhere else. Quiet, great staff, always making sure all campers have what they need. The Campers a very sociable, and nice times around the campfires... Ct. River is always fun to paddle and fish or a trip to Ascutney SP to hike, or a relaxing time in Queeche at
The Cabot Farm Store, the
Antique store, and just a short trip down the road VINS, a raptor rehab center with trails to walk and educational Infirmary to see, and talks that are geared to children and adults on the different raptors in the program. Ben and Jerry’s isn’t far away,as is Green Mountain Coffee, King Arthur Flour, The Apple Mill....or just sit and have some quiet time at the Campground....

A small park right along the edge of the Conneticut River, gently sloping terrain, large trees, perfect for camping or picnicking, or just for a gentle stroll. If camping you may want to reserve in advance.

Used the park as a base camp for two days of kayaking on the Connecticut River. Staff was very accommodating. Park was clean, campsites were exactly as described. Will stay here again when the need arises1

I took my sister and her young son here to give snowshoeing a try. It was the perfect place for six-year-old to learn how to snowshoe, as there was some hillclimbing, but mostly flat circle to walk around, that ran along the river. The best thing about this place is the park manager. He's a very kind man and spent some time talking to my nephew.

Memorial Day weekend, site 4, which is beautiful and right on the CT river.
Perfect spot for kayaking, hiking Mt Ascutney and exploring the Vermont countryside. Great launch pad to see Queechie, Woodstock, Harland, Claremont, etc. Ascutney state park is right down the street, and you can either hike from the bottom or drive to almost the top via the auto road and then hike the 1m hike around the top to the hang gliding spot.
There's a great canoe launch at Wilgus, but we will be driving to Windsor tomorrow to take a shuttle and kayak about 15m of the CT river tomorrow. :)
Campground is impeccable, bathrooms are super clean. shower was tiled beautifully but I was sorely disappointed by the lukewarm water. That won't keep me from coming back though LOL. Great place for sure

Vermont State Parks are always clean and a great deal. This one is very small and sites seem a bit cramped. Our site (#13) had good fireplace but a trail bordered the back side between the site and the river.
If you like to canoe or kayak, this can be a great place to begin, end or be a mid-point of your trip. The river can move pretty fast here but below it gets slow from the dam in B.F. Fishing is pretty good for smallies and such.
A few lean-tos and cabins to rent along with a large group area which many times is filled with Boy Scouts.

Great family campground. Nice river views. Canoes for rent,cabins,ice,and firewood. Staff is exceptional! Restaurants and markets nearby.

This is a great state park and the proximity to the Conn. river helps it to be well rounded in it activities. The site are clean and they deliver the fire wood to your site. Great Vermont state park!!

This park is on the banks of the Connecticut River in Weathersfield VT. There are only 17 campsites plus a sprinkling of lean to and cabins. This is a quiet campground and most settle down by 9:00 PM. There is a car top boat launch ramp and canoes and kayaks are available for rent. It is a serene place . It's Labor Day and I am still trying to take a read on the fish . Tomorrow I talk the yak out and see if I get something more than bank fishing.
Lots to do in the area but most folk seem t be concentrating on outdoor activities.
The staff are very pleasant and helpful. 5 stars to the staff. The facilities are immaculate even to the point of raking sites and cleaning fireplaces between campers.
It you want a fireplace for a fire rather than cooking try to get a site with a concrete/firebrick fireplace . Cooking? Take one with a standard ring pit.
Ice and firewood sales on premise as well as canoe and kayak rentals. Great hiking at nearby Ascutney.
If you want to party, this not your place.
