We were in town to visit the cavern and American Fright Night. The factory is 2 mins away from both. Unfortunately, since we were there on a Saturday, we were not able to have a tour but we could view the factory from behind the glass. The staff was very friendly and gave us a bag of samples. They were delicious and "Dill Pickle" was the winner in our unofficial taste test.

We have added the Route 11 Chips to our visit anytime we are in the area. I love the non-GMO sweet potato chips that come out when we are visiting and I love the newer chocolate bars with potato chips! I love that they will make me a special case for no additional charge, I also like that we can see processing through the windows weekdays. We have "bling" from there to wear, too. I just wish they sold closer to where we live.

Standing behind large glass windows observing the potato chip making in this smal factory is definitely worth the trip if you are in or near the area. Right off 81 South in Mount Jackson, Virginia. There is a narration by one of the workers. When finished, you get a pick of hot off the press potato chip sample bags!

Just a small building but a must visit place. See how potato chips are made and packaged - small batch style. Free samples of each flavor. You can't buy them any fresher anywhere that at the factory! Easy access just off of I-81 (Mount Jackson) between Harrisonburg and Strasburg/Winchester. Some are seasonal like Sweet potato and Yukon (limited quantity and they go FAST!). Dill pickle (perfect with fried chicken). Sizes range from one ounce (perfect controlled size to limit your snacking) to a super-sized bagful.
Note, these are not your everyday mass-produced chips. Super high quality with exquisite flavors. Cost a bit more than mega produced chips but well worth it. Note: you can find them in some stores in Virginia and you can order on line via their web page if you can't make it to the factory.

We enjoyed our stop here. I’ve had the chips many times over the years and found out they offered for you to come into the factory the same day we were in the area. Unfortunately they weren’t producing the day we went but the staff was super friendly and helpful. They offered to go over how production works and offered us samples to try before purchasing. My 6 year old was beyond thrilled to be able to taste test (which is miracle since he’s such a picky eater). Definitely recommend a stop her if you’re in the area!

The factory is not too big, but it's worth stopping into. We went on a non-run day which means we couldn't watch the chips being made, but it was still worth the visit. Arturo ( not sure I got the spelling right) did a great job giving us a mini tour with large pictures and we got to see the factory. He gave us all a bag of chips to sample. I must say they were delicious and Crunchy. We all had a great time!

Stopped by on the way to some nearby caverns. The visitors gallery was mostly empty except for some tables and a small selection of branded merchandise. I had expected more of a store like the Utz factory in Pennsylvania. No cooking was going on when we were there, so we just looked at the equipment. The best part was the free samples. We tried six different varieties and bought some bags to take with us.

We had a great visit to Route 11 Chips. When you enter the showroom you are offered a tasting of 9 different variety of their chips. Warning: the hottest ones really have a lot of "fire." You can view parts of the factory through windows but no chips are being cooked on the weekends, which is when we were there. Of course, there is an opportunity to purchase bags of chips and other gift items. A fun activity while touring the Shenandoah Valley.

This was a surprise, and really worth the trip. don't miss it!! the staff is very enthusiastic, and you get to see pretty much the entire process from beginning to end. and the free samples are great. We bought a whole bunch of chips as a result.

They do NOT cook potato chips on Monday, so we altered out departure until Tuesday since this was the first stop on our trip, and we didn't want to miss it. I would HIGHLY recommend following the "scenic route" directions on their website - very much worth it to visit & drive across a covered bridge!!
Our "tour guide" was Truman. He was extremely pleasant & knowledgeable. We had taken tours at the Utz & Herrs chip factories in PA, so this was a great comparison, as these are kettle cooked. The tour is completely FREE. After the tour, they were very happy to provide sample bags (the size you would put in a lunch bag) of various flavors. We tried the Crab Seasoning (had a bit of a bite to it), the Dill Pickle, as well as their most popular flavor, the Lightly Salted. They also offer Salt & Pepper, Salt & Vinegar, Sour Cream & Chive, Barbecue, and something called Mam Zuma's Revenge, which is habanero pepper seasoned, so be warned. I'm sure there are a few flavors I'm forgetting too! They also offer seasonal flavors, such as sweet potato chips in the fall, and cinnamon flavored around the holidays. We arrived around 10am (they open at 9am), so it wasn't too busy, but as we were eating our sample chips, it got real busy. NOTE: They do NOT allow photos of their manufacturing processes on the tour.
One unique thing they offered was a plain, clear plastic bag of whatever they made that day, so they are VERY freshly made. These bags are off to one side and are of various sizes, priced by the ounce. We bought one of these bags of Lightly Salted chips, along with a variety back that included 15 one-ounce bags of Dill Pickle, and 15 one-ounce bags of Lightly Salted.

We just put the name in our phone and the directions came up. As far as hours, I highly suggest you call them prior to your visit to check with them as they only make small batches of chips. My husband and son had a blast there.

How much is it a person an how long dose it take
It is free to visit and you can take as long as you like. If you look at everything and taste the potato chips, then you will be there around 30 minutes. They also have restrooms so it would be a nice spot to get out and take a break. Enjoy!
