We went during tulip season a few years ago and went to see the sunflowers this year! It was a great experience. Several of us in my family (three generations) were able to walk around while those with mobility issues were able to ride around on the wagon and walk short distances near the stops. They had all the equipment we needed to pick the sunflowers (clippers and baskets) and even had umbrellas which definitely helped with the sun. There were so many varieties of sunflowers. We're definitely going back!

The tulips were amazing, vibrant and beautiful! They do not allow you to purchase bulbs anymore which was disappointing because I would love to have these beautiful tulips in my own yard.

We visited in April and they had lots of rain before we got there. They told you on the website to expect mud. So we wore out boots and went to see the gorgeous tulips. The tulips were amazing as were the daffodils. I only cut the amount that came with the tickets because we had such a ride home. It was very pretty and I would definitely go back.

Um...giant field of tulips...an absolute DREAM! The tickets were reasonably priced and the tulips were super cheap compared to what you'd get even at the grocery store. I was in absolute heaven! Love that they let you cut & wrap them before leaving with them. Reason for 4 stars is there were no bathrooms other than a few porta potties. A place this size could use one I think! For the record, boyfriend said they were pretty clean!

Great place to see and pick tulips! We've seen tulips in the Netherlands and it's different, but not in a bad way. Tulips are mostly mixed in the fields here, which has its own charm. Plenty of tulip fields, but not so vast that they can't all be walked to, and getting to pick them was fun. Even with the picking, they didn't look thinned out at all. So many. We're looking forward to planting our bulbs. We thought the entry fee was worth what we got - the entry and the tulips. Definitely recommend if in the DC area!

This place is fantastic! I have always wanted to visit a flower field. AND tulips are my favorite flower. We were in the right place at the right time of year for this gem. I am not sure how we found it, probably online somewhere. The views were gorgeous and the staff were friendly. I would love to visit again, if only the fields were closer. But I would say, it is worth the trip!

NO handicapped access. Long waits for ride on trailer to sunflowers. Be prepared to be able to walk long distances. The small fields are a long way from the dirt parking lot. There are 2 dirty porta potties. The website does not provide this information. We were so disappointed. Very disorganized when checking out. Small sunflowers. $10 for a mason jar vase with water!!! The website was misleading. We expected a large sunflower fields as presented in website. The one good thing I will say is that it is a fun place for kids.

Our trip to Burnside Farms to view sunflowers offered some surprises:
* I expected to see sunflower fields stretching to the horizon. The farm itself is large, but smaller individual fields seem to be planted in rotation to provide blooms through the summer. So, on the last day of July one field had past-their-prime blooms, a field or two were fully in bloom and other fields had budding sunflowers. Don't get me wrong: LOTS of sunflowers, but plenty of non-sunflower space also.
* I expected to see lots of sunflower varieties. The past-its-prime field appeared to have one variety, the blooming fields were all of another variety, and it was difficult to tell what the bud-stage fields held.
* The shears you can use to cut sunflowers with were high quality, the loaned carrying basket was handy, the sunflower-themed umbrellas were a nice surprise, and the tractor-pulled wagon ride to the distant blooming fields was appreciated. (Leave an ID or credit card to ensure return of the shears and umbrellas.)
TIPS:
* Check the Burnside Farms website and/or Instagram account to monitor peak bloom. And check throughout the year: Burnside also has tulip fields (usually in April).
* Ask the tractor driver at the front entrance how soon the wagon leaves. Not realizing the wagon had just completed a run, we climbed aboard and waited nearly 30 minutes to move.
* For good photographs, bring a tripod (for steady closeups) and a step stool (you can get better photos if you're looking down on sunflowers, which tend to be the same height). Check out one of those sunflower-themed umbrellas for an interesting visual touch.
* Your admission includes three cut sunflowers each. Go directly home afterward; we stopped in Middleburg and had some pretty unhappy blooms by the time we got to Fairfax.
* Don't forget suntan lotion and bug repellent! You're on a farm, people!

Thank you to this beautiful farm for farming flowers (not an easy feat). Tulip field is amazing, I hear the sunflowers are too. If you have a chance to support please do. Spring tulips are usually early to mid april.

While I believe the Sunflowers and flowers will last a couple of weeks. I believe they said the pumpkin 🎃 patch will open in September. Sorry I don’t know the date.
