Attended an amazing event hosted by the owners, Luke, Toni, and Matthew. We not only enjoyed five different vintages of their “humility” red wine with a wonderful four course meal, but we learned about the birth of the wine from the history of the vines on through to the final bottling process.
This small winery may be out of the way, but they focus on quality versus quantity. All their grapes are grown, processed, and bottles on site. They offer small charcuterie plates and other occasional items, but do allow you to bring in picnic lunch or your own snacks.
One visit here will have you coming back again and again. They do have a small staff and it does get busy on occasion, so just have patience. They focus on trying to make everyone welcome and want you to learn about their wines.

We had flights of three award winning red wines for $25. That is a bit higher than most wineries charge, but the wines were excellent. The staff were very pleasant on this chilly, windy April afternoon. The weather made us stay indoors. The old farmhouse is quaint. I am sure the outside will be attractive when the construction is finished. The proximity to Route 29 makes it an easy stop if one is headed from C’ville to DC or vice versa.

First trip here. Tasting is done in an old house. Several places to sit and not very crowded late on a Sunday afternoon. We liked the Chardonnay and two of the red blends. They had a Barberra and a blend with that wine in it which we felt were too smokey, but others obviously like that flavor. The server was very knowledgeable, and personable. On a nicer day you could enjoy sitting outside with a view of the pond. Purchased several bottles of 3 wines, and will plan to return.

Stopped in for a tasting. The server was outgoing and knowledgeable. The wine was very good and I bought two bottles. Nice area outside to sit and enjoy the sunshine

There’s nothing to do in Opal, except visit Granite Heights winery.. This unassuming little winery has won many state and national medals for their wines. The owners and his brother run and manage the place, and they could not be nicer people. Although dogs are not allowed in the tasting room, they are welcome outside. Chairs and tables are arranged for sipping a glass of something you’ve tasted. Food is available, or you are welcome to bring your own spread. GH makes outstanding reds and whites. Their dry petite manseing and their Lomax Reserve are especially good.

We have been to Granite Heights a couple of times. The owners and staff are friendly, personable, and make the tasting experience fun and informative. We joined the wine club last year and will be picking up our second box of 6 wines as well as buying a few of our favorite bottles. The restored farmhouse is delightful and really helps tie the winery to the history in this area. We are so glad we live in the "wine region" of Virginia!

Stopped by on our road trip from DC to Raleigh.
Found the old converted farm to be quite cozy.
Wines were decent.
We tasted 8 and we both liked the Petit Manseng, and Barbelo.
-and bought a bottle of the super sweet 2017 Petit Manseng to go.
Inside seating seemed limited, but there was a nice big patio and some seats down by the pond.
Parking: Lot
Ambiance: Friendly.
Wines: Some good ones in the mix
Prices: Average
Would recommend: Yes - if in the area
Would re-patronize: Maybe

Beautiful restored farmhouse and outside setting. Our wine pourer was excellent. Got to speak with one of the wine makers. Did a vertical tasting of chardonnays and a regular tasting. All the the wines were wonderful. We bought 4 bottles! Looking forward to returning. This is a real find in Warrenton!!!

The area has MANY wineries, have heard in VA there were over 350, so we had a path we wanted to follow and this one was in the path BUT also liked the name.
It's an old house which has rooms for tasting. I think the idea is to make you feel more AT HOME. Relax and enjoy.
Like most places, you have a sheet with the wines and a description to go with it.
The pourer for us happened to be the owner, JUST came in from the fields.
He happened to be MOST knowledgable about the process. I am unsure as to who felt that he was to Geeky. The owner's explination (to me was awesome) went into the science and chemestry of the process from the growth to the end product.
The wines to us were great! purchased several different ones, unfortunately they did not last long though.
If you want to get technical or want to learn about the finite process, totally recommend getting some face time with the owner.

I love to go to this winery. The wine is very good and the restored farmhouse provides a nicer atmosphere than many of the bigger wineries. It's one of those places I hesitate to review because its size is part of its charm--and if too many people start going there, well...it would lower the experience. The winemaker (a patent attorney) and his wife (a physician) are gregarious and fun to be around. We go there at least twice a summer. Sadly, they are only open one weekend a month in the winter, and the open weekends are posted on the website.
We always leave with a few bottles to take home and love to sit and visit over a glass while we are there. The farm house overlooks a small lake (no, you can't fish) and it's relaxing and tranquil. If you aren't in a hurry, do yourself a favor and spend a little time here.
