Fantastic tour! The African-American tour is a must see for all those visiting Williamsburg, and locals as well. I guarantee everyone will learn something about some of the less well-known history of the Colonial times.

My mom and I went on this tour and had a great time. Not only knowledgeable but fun. Would definitely go on another walk if I end up around there again

Our guide was amazing - the time she has spent in research of Williamsburg and the Founding Fathers was nothing short of incredible! From basic facts about the places and people, she was full of anecdotes, 'weird' facts not often heard, and information that we have never before heard. The people that we have heard about came alive as she spoke - and we came away knowing these people as the great - but the 'human as we are' - first Americans. Well worth every penny!!

We heard about these tours from a relative who had been part of Trish’s tour, a week before our visit. He recommended her and we reached out. So glad we did; she was impressive. We booked the Historical Tour and Civil War Tour and were amazed at her knowledge. She’s full of obscure background info, gleaned from reading old letters and original documents, and brings these findings to her non-stop delivery. She’ll take any question and doesn’t sugar coat the facts. As a previous history teacher, I found her a valuable treasure.

Trish was well informed, friendly and very interesting. As well as explaining the usual sites she brought fascinating insights into historical events and a healthy scepticism about some common myths. We enjoyed her company and would recommend this tour to anybody wanting to go a little deeper into the history of Williamsburg. Excellent value for money a definite 5 stars!

Great guide, Trish, was so knowledgeable and entertaining. Lots of anecdotes and interesting facts. The tour went by so fast. Could have listened to her all day.

The tour guide was so knowledgeable and really identified the African American history of Williamsburg accurately. My wife and I brought our Mother’s who are also very well versed. We can tell that she is very passionate about her work and that she also did the proper research to keep the authenticity of different historical events. She was also kind and communicated very well.

Trish was our tour guide and she did a phenomenal job! She had endless stories to tell about the historical figures who lives in each house we passed, what it was like to live in the time period for different types of people, the significance of each building, the beliefs of the time... etc. etc. Answered all of our questions in full detail, and included historical truths about people of different cultures and backgrounds, even the sad (and sometimes gruesome) details. She was also very accommodating and helpful to me (a breastfeeding mom) and my family! Always made sure that we were in the shade when she stopped to share a story, and even found a shady bench for me to feed my baby while she was giving information to the rest of the group nearby. This tour was my favorite part of our trip to Williamsburg!!

Would I be able to bring my dog on the walking tour? She is well behaved.

We welcome dogs on our tours, as long as they are on a leash, are not disruptive and are kept close to you. (Think of it as canine social distancing.) Also, you accept liability for your pet's actions.

No, they used to have them. But if you call the tour company one of their tour guides, who used to do the ghost tour may be willing to accommodate you. Good luck

There are several paid lots nearby. We parked at the Visitor's Center which was free. It was a little farther away and made for a good walk, but certainly not horrible. Just make sure to allow yourself plenty of extra time if you choose to park here.

Does the price of this tour include entry into Colonial Williamsburg? Or, is there a separate fee for entry to Colonial Williamsburg, in addition to the price of this tour?

Although fares to Colonial Williamsburg are sold - there is no fee to enter and shop and explore. Certainly, no entrance ticket is necessary to do the one day tour.
