This is a wonderful museum and it kept our 5 yr old grandson busy for a few hours. Lots of hands on activities. It was hard to leave. It was a little cold on the day we went, so we only spent a few minutes on the upper floor (outside).

Great place for kids 8 and under..
(Maybe 10 and under, depending on kids). 4 levels of fun- best level was level 2 with apple orchard and water play.
We went on a Friday morning. It did get busy around 11(compared to when we first got there at 10); so go early.
We stayed about 2 hours. The 6 year old could have stayed longer, the 12 year old was being a good sport.

We had a wonderful morning at the museum! I was visiting my daughter and her 2 kids in Winchester and my oldest daughter and her 3 children also came from Texas to visit. We were greeted by Tammy who was friendly and very informative about the museum and places near by for a kid friendly lunch. The kids enjoyed each floor finding new things to play with and the roof view was so nice. I would 100% recommend this for a fun relaxing time for your kids!

All ages kids will love this hands on museum. There are 3 stories of activities and displays. There is a rescue unit to explore, an apple processing set, etc. There are specific activities that have to be signed up for. Always something to entertain and excite the kids.

Spent about 3 hours here with my 15 month old. Really enjoyed all the different things that he could learn/play with. They have morning programs just for young kids and 1 free Friday evening a month if you want to try it and see what it's all about. The only thing that bothers me is the price: $9 a person without a membership is pretty steep considering we went to a far larger one in Raleigh NC for about $6 a person. Also it gets pretty crowded when there are school groups and on weekends so it best to try and go on a weekday. They are closed Mondays.

They local bee keepers have created a profound exhibit, beyond anything That is ever commonly seen! Bees flying in and out of a 3 story building in the middle of old town Winchester!

This is a narrow 4 story science center for children. Each floor has different exhibits to play in. The set up is is similar to the one by our house, open layouts to help see children running around. The price was $9 per person (children under 2 years old are free.) The meter parking lot is the cheapest parking we have ever done, $1.50 bout us 2 hours which was plenty of time. There was plenty of seating for adults. Floor 2 was my children's favorite. It had an apple picking set up. Nothing fancy though.

As a local, I have been here several times with my kids. They love it!! There are so many different hands-on activities that allow them to engage with the learning experience. Also, the stations are set up to incorporate play--so important!!!! I love the apple station, but the part where kids literally slide out the end of the digestive track is my favorite part.

The Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum is a wonderful little museum. The kids love the ambulance on the main floor and where you can make 'roller coaster' tracks with balls. This museum is best for kids under 10...they will love it!!

Describe the Moccasin Trail

The Moccasin Trail exhibit is located on the third floor and includes, most notably, our replica of a Native American longhouse. This structure was built just as it would have been over two hundred and fifty years ago (saving a few updated safety features). Visitors are free to play inside the long house, built a pretend fire, and read books and articles pertaining to the everyday life of Native Americans. The exhibit also contains a miniature replica of an Iroquois settlement and a dugout canoe.
