Museum featuring a variety of artists with a heavy emphasis on local and indigenous art. 5 minute walk from the ferry terminal. It's free to enter (and hey why not leave a donation). There are two floors to explore, with lots of different mediums. Went with an 8 year old so didn't spend a ton of time but could have spent a leisurely hour meandering. Super friendly staff as well that were also kind to kiddo which I appreciated since that can be hit and miss in art spaces.
Definitely worth a stop.

Small but very nice museum. Inspiring modern art and good stories in an architecturally interesting modern building, surrounded by inviting restaurants. And it’s free (if you can resist the temptation to donate — that we could not)

Cute little museum with some interesting exhibits. Especially liked the printed materials in the back and the roof garden

This is a great little museum with typically high quality changing exhibits. They also specialize in artist books. We are regular visitors to the island and this museum, but are not interested in political art, so didn't go this time around. We will return.

We came across this art museum right after we got off the ferry. I was surprised that it was free. They had a wide variety of art on display. It isn't really that big but it did take us about 45 minutes to go through it. They also have a small gift shop. I am not sure if the restaurant was open or not but we had already eaten. Worth a look if you are visiting Bainbridge Island!

I really liked all the artwork. The artist who made items to bring awareness to transgenders of color being murdered was stunning and thoughtful. I also enjoyed the other exhibits. Although the museum is not very big, it's really worth going to and it is free.

My wife and I travel a LOT in different parts of the world. We always stop in at local art, history, and natural history museums wherever we are. The Bainbridge Island Museum of Art is simply one of the best local museums we have seen anywhere in the world. I would go further and say that it is one of the best contemporary art museum anywhere on the West Coast of the U.S. If you come to Bainbridge, make the effort to spend an hour or two at this fine museum. What do I like about it? Mostly the extremely high quality of the art on display. This may sound overly simplistic, but there is a huge amount of really crappy art on the walls of museum everywhere you look, be it San Francisco, New York, Paris, Sydney, Florence, or Perth, Australia. BIMA has a consistently fabulous collection of paintings, sculptures and other media on its walls. We enjoyed it thoroughly.

The museum was very bright and clean, a lot to see. The staff was very friendly. I especially enjoyed shopping at the gift shop.

Great small art museum. We enjoy visiting yearly, they change out the upstairs exhibit quite often. Nice gift shop as well.

This museum is a local gem. Situated not too far from the ferry dock on Bainbridge island (perhaps 5 min if you are a slow walker like me), it is a must-see. It may not have classical pieces but is full of eclectic art from local artists and pride. The docents are very friendly, giving out details and revealing interesting information that adds to the background of the art pieces. It's worth checking out this attraction before you venture further into town. Besides, no one would turn down free admission, right?
