Wow, so many nutcrackers. Not just the holiday decorations but working ones too, some very old. Much better than expected.

I grew up for several years in Germany and we have nutcrackers at home, so I wasn't sure how much I was going to get out of this museum, but I was so impressed and fascinated by the depth, breadth, and variety that I spent almost two hours there!
Dating back to the 1500's, you get to see the variety of nut cracking devices that have been used through the ages and from around the world. Old nutcrackers, beautifully carved works of art, metal screws, the variety of areas that can be used to crack nuts on a nutcracker, and such a huge variety of interesting, fun nutcrackers to see. There are two videos about how nutcrackers are made and the types were short and interesting.
There is a second floor to the museum. A game sheet can be given to the kids to see if they can find certain nutcrackers.
They have Star Wars, Harry Potter, Elvis Presley, famous artists, and nutcrackers by holiday.
The gift shop has a lot of wonderful items including nutcrackers and Christmas items from Germany.
Note that video is not allowed and some of the display cases, especially with the older nutcrackers do not allow pictures to be taken. There are signs on them.
I didn't realize how much I didn't know about nutcrackers and the amazing, sheer variety of them. This was a very fun and interesting museum and definitely a highlight in Leavenworth.

The Nutcracker Museum is the highlight of Leavenworth. It is a quirky museum that is packed to the walls with all kinds of nutcrackers from around the world. It reminds me of some other great niche museums like the Salt and Pepper Shaker Museum in Gatlinburg. Some of the signs could use some fine-tuning. They are often light on information or nonexistent. That's a really minor point and doesn't change the fact that this should be a must stop. I strongly recommend this and at $5, why would you miss it? Check it out. Maybe it will inspire you to collect an unusual thing.

This is well worth a visit and definitely worth the entrance fee. It’s quirky and something out of the ordinary. The nutcrackers range from the sublime to the downright funny. Staff are very sweet and knowledgeable.
Was a little disappointed with the shop as they didn’t have a great range and the affordable ones were a little cheap looking

The museum doesn't look very big from the outside but they have utilized the space very well considering the humongous number of nutcrackers on display. I had no idea there were so many different kinds of nutcrackers. We enjoyed the video and thought it was very informative. The price of admission is reasonable and the staff are very friendly and approachable should you have any questions.

The $5 per person admission was well worth it. The museum is a two story shop with more than 9,000 nutcrackers. They have a Guinness World record certificate. Be respectful and mindful when taking pictures. We observed a large group of adults get reprimanded for knocking into a display when trying to take a group photo.

What a delight to trek to the renowned Nutcracker Museum! My sister, who has been collecting nutcrackers for decades, got to chat and talk shop with THE Nutcracker Lady, Arlene Wagner, the energetic 98-year-old co-founder of the museum. Impressive even for us non-collectors! A must see if you are in Leavenworth.

We loved the Nutcracker Museum especially after having brought several home from our 5 years of living in Germany! But what was especially fun on this visit was getting the meet and visit with Arlene Wagner, who started the museum along with her late husband. She is a wonderful and welcoming presence and even allowed me to take a picture of her in the museum doorway with some of the items in the background. The displays are well laid out and easy to see. I highly recommend this museum for people of all ages as both kids and adults will enjoy the wide variety of nutcrackers!

So many nutcrackers!! Ask one of the fabulous ladies for one of their scavenger hunt papers. There are so many to see that I think the scavenger hunt actually helps you actually look at them instead of just glancing.
