This museum is bigger than it looks on the outside, and I'm not quite sure how. There are pieces of shipwrecks outside, detailing what happened to each ship, and there are lots of exhibits inside; exhibits on beach environments, rocks, and local history. If you're interested in this sort of thing, you should absolutely visit.

The center was in remodel mode so we could not go inside but there’s plenty to see and learn from outside exhibits and a nature trail

This is a great museum that offers so much information about the history and nature of the area. We ended up spending much more time here than anticipated. This is a great rainy day top but interesting anytime. Ship wrecks, Pat Boone, Whales, taxidermy animals, pelts to touch, and so much cool stuff. Great little gift shop and friendly docents.

If you have young children stay away!!! All the animals in this place are dead and some stuffed. My 6 year-old still talks about the dead creepy things.

If you're spending any time at all in Ocean Shores, you should be sure to stop in at the Coastal Interpretive Center. Staffed by knowledgeable volunteers, the Center is a mini natural history museum, its rooms filled with specimens of the local wildlife. Here you will learn about the mammals, birds, insects and also shells, rocks and geological formations of the peninsula. There's a good exhibit on the Quinault Nation as well. It doesn't take a lot of time to tour the Center, but it's worth it - you will be so much more informed as you go out beach combing afterwards.

My grandchildren enjoyed their visit so much. There were hands on things to do. The animal scenes were so real to life and informative. Nothing boring about this place. Picture taking opportunities and fun souvenirs to enjoy and learn from and take home.

Very informative. A nice wide selection of topics for a small building. I thought it was a very good review of the whole Ocean Shores area and its history of the native tribes and the life they lived.

Our exhibits change as new items are received and we are working with the City to help celebrate our 50th Anniversary so plan to have a new exhibit on Ocean Shores as well.

This is a must see while at Ocean Shores. Been coming for years and never been here. So much information about the area, wildlife, shells and such it was so fun. Items about shipwrecks, tide directions, books, touch real fur animals pelts and shells. Pretty neat. The stay are super friendly and helpful. Ask the questions they know the answers!

It looked like a quaint little place from the outside. There were boards with pictures about the birds of the area, telling you characteristics about a good birdhouse. What types of feeders a bit about hummingbirds.
The volunteer staff were great and greeted us with a bit of information on the different rooms. It’s filled with hands on opportunities. You’ll learn about habitat, watersheds, history, local Native Americans, wildlife.

Our trail behind the center is only about a quarter of a mile loop. While it's not very long, it does display native coastal plant and forest habitats. It is easy and relaxed, great for children! This is not to be confused with the popular beach walk just down the road from us at Damon Point.
