The building is very grand and stately, and the campus is very nice, but there is not much additional to see during a visit. The tour guide was knowledgeable but there wasn’t much to share other than the building and its construction. I was expecting more WA state government history.

The beautiful building is located on a hill, it is open from 9am to 4 pm on weekends. From the legislation building one can have a nice view of water inlet.

Our jaws just dropped as soon as we entered. Just stunning. We went on a Sunday, free parking, beautiful flower garden, incredible art, marble, chandeliers. The only negative was that you can only go in the chambers if you’re with a group.

Non è stato possibile visitarlo all'interno in quanto era chiuso l'ufficio preposto, ma abbiamo potuto entrare nella biblioteca attigua e avere il piacere di ammirare questo enorme complesso dall'esterno. La cupola è ben visibile da molti parti di Washington.

A must see in Olympia, beautiful grounds, somber war memorials and the grandeur of large stone buildings. Free tours but feel free to wander on your own.

This was my 42nd State capitol visit and it compares very well with others. There is cheap metered parking within a 5 minute walk and the views of the building as you walk are great. A very friendly lady called Mary offered to walk with us to show us the way in and tell us a bit about the building and the locale- she is an employee at the building.
The security staff were very helpful and pointed us to where was accessible as a self-tour. Inside the building is immense and impressive. As we walked another friendly guy called Patrick stopped and spoke to us for 20 minutes about the history of the building and showed us some photos - and he wasn’t even the official tour guide!!
We had a quick coffee in the on-site cafe and the lady serving already knew who we were - I guess they don’t get too many Scots visiting this Capitol building.

Not great but not terrible. The woman giving the tour of the capital building was very softly spoken. There wasn’t much to see inside in my opinion. But outside the Beautiful cherry blossom trees took your breath away.

I worked here for six years and never got tired of the beautiful grounds and scenery - especially the Capitol Lake. It really is amazing in the springtime when everything is in bloom. You can wander for quite awhile here and see the various memorials and gardens, the fountain, and of course the Legislative Building. Before Covid, you could go on guided tours of the Legislative Building, which is pretty awesome. The inside of the building is stunning to say the least, and at Christmas they have a beautiful tree set up and often there are school bands and choirs. Worth a stop if you're in the area. A great place to exercise - lots of paved paths, lots of steps to climb, and if you want to take the switchbacks (dirt) trail to the bottom it's worth the effort. There are benches to stop and rest along the way if you need to. When it's non-Covid time, you can visit the Legislative Building gift shop for neat treasures. Even local residents and employees like to shop there for little goodies and souvenirs.

We are visiting on 3-27-16 I know they have tours on Sundays but I just noticed that it falls on Easter. Will you be closed in observance for Easter. Or what time will the first tour begin on Monday 3-28-16? Thank you.

General public tours
Guided public tours of the Washington State Legislative Building are offered seven days a week hourly--between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays, and between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekends. Tours are free and begin every hour on the hour and last 60 minutes. Public tours begin at the Tour Information Desk which is located on the second floor of the Legislative Building, just inside the main entrance doors. Tours are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Group size is limited to 25 people per tour time.
The Legislative Building is closed on Thanksgiving, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.
I'm looking for information on planning a wedding there at the capital. Can you help me talk to someone who has that information. Thank you.
