My grandchildren, 5 & 3 really enjoyed this experience. There were so many activities to choose from! Their favorites were the crane, the racing ducks in water, the wooden toy train on tracks and the play store and kitchen areas.

Great place for kids to run around. Very clean and lots of well trained staff to keep kiddos safe. Especially love the panning for treasure experience!

We have visited many children museums while raising our son and now with our grandsons. The HOCM is by far the best Children's Museum we have ever visited. Even during COVID they are able to offer a safe, extremely fun experience for our boys. There is so much to do and the boys (ages 6 & 7) just love going there. Definitely work a trip from Seattle to spend time there. We usually spend the night in the Best Western near by so the boys can swim after visiting the Museum. A fun mini vacation not far from home.

My family visited the museum on 8/10 and 8/11 and my kids loved the place. Police car, fire truck, helicopter, ambulance were my son’s favorite. I highly recommend this museum to families with children.

We actually had my fathers 90th birthday party there when they first opened. It is great to bring my grandson by and play with him. Many learning opportunites.

I actually live in Tumwater and love going here on nice days. Even though I’m probably older then I’m supposed to be, lol, I still find all the activities fun. I’ve been going here since I was very little. There is fun for all ages, ranging from tots to teens (me). There is also an outside area that includes water features that children will love on hot days! I would defiantly recommend visiting here. To go through the whole building and enjoy it, it could take a whole day. The campus also includes a cafeteria and a gift shop. The only thing that’s kind of annoying about it is the parking. Sometimes you can get a good and close spot, but you have to pay the parking meters all the time. Other times you can get a free spot, but it’s far away from the main entrance. Besides the parking, this is a great place to go, have a nice visit!

Incredible place --- creative, imaginative, stem learning. You can spend hours there. Love the outside too, a place for making mud pies, a creek to wade in, a lighthouse to climb. I also love the classes offered there for kids, music and toddler play. Inside there is water play, cop cars, dress up stage, tree house ,etc. Great for grandparents to bring their grandchildren. Well worth the membership!

There is so much here for youngsters of any age to explore. Our granddaughter loved the water features, the and the light wall at 18 months, revels in the kitchen/bakery/garden complex and the ship -- and more water features -- at 2 1/2, and has so much waiting for her on future visits. We love the combination of structure and freedom the place offers.

We visited this awesome place with a 4 year old and 22 month old and a great time was had by all. Market place, creative arts room, construction “zone”, water tables, science area, make believe section with props for different occupations including a police car, and a hospital nursery. If needed, there is a “4 and under” escape room. There is also an outdoor play area which must be pretty awesome in the warmer months. Something for everyone at this hands on kids place.

Yes! The Museum is designed for all kids to enjoy. There is also a special gallery called Snug Harbor, for children under 4 to play separately. It is filled with age-appropriate experiences.

Greetings! We always suggest that people plan on being here a few hours. We have 8 galleries, over 150 exhibits, and a half-acre Outdoor Discovery Center with a newly opened Lighthouse Lookout over Puget Sound. Here is one of our most recent reviews from our Facebook page:

The Museum is geared mainly toward infant to 10 years, but as others have stated, our Arts & Parts Studio is loved by kids of all ages! We also host quarterly Adult Nights (21+) at the Museum, and get rave reviews about how much fun they have!
If you are local to Olympia, she might be interested in becoming one of our beloved volunteers when she turns 13, so getting a chance to check it out would be great. You can always call and ask to bring her on a tour!
