We took our son on the train ride they offer from Snoqualmie to North Bend and he loved it. There is a train museum at the end of the trip that has a lot of interesting train cars to view. There is also a cool gift shop for kids. The train ride takes you by the falls as well and offers a great view. this was a fun 2 hours experience.

We visited on a rainy day just before Christmas. The Santa train was no longer running and everywhere was quiet, so we could just get a flavour, a small glimpse, of what is normally on offer.
The lady in the shop was warm and welcoming - lots of children's train themed books and toys and more serious books for adult train buffs too, plus cards, badges, Christmas tree decorations, tee shirts etc, and we wandered around the old station building - including the hands on display of Brio train sets (couldn't resist a nostalgic play, as our son collected this when small!) - and then out into the yard to look at the old trains parked up.
It was all a bit antique and rusting, but it had its own particular charm and I am sure for young Thomas the Tank fans (or the American equivalents) and their equally train mad parents, an hour or two could be happily wiled away.

Review for santa train only. A perfect little outing for small children to visit santa, go on a train ride, and kill a couple hours poking around looking at trains, and eating hot cocoa and cookies. Beats a dumb mall santa every day of the week and then some. Probably not entirely stimulating for adults, but then again, it's not for you! Been making it an annual tradition.

Don't ride on the left or west seats of the train.
This is ridiculous , you can see nothing if you sit on the left side of the train.it should be half or quarter priced. Completely worthless

I’ve never been on a train before so to have that experience at $20 a person sounded like a nice/fun way to spend the last day two of my friends were in town. The train goes back and forth along one track, with two stops: North Bend Depot and Snoqualmie Depot. You can get off and on at these stops with your ticket. You are not let off prior to the Snoqualmie falls nor at the Railway Historic Campus.
The train you get to ride on is 100 years old and has been poorly maintained. Seats are torn apart and roped off. Windows lose traction and slide shut. It feels dirty and rundown, and the train car you enter into is so sketchy you’re not sure the train is actually safe. (It gets a little nicer if you continue to the next set of cars.)
The train moves along the track very slowly. The whole ride is very rocky. The breaks are in desperate need of maintenance based on the constant screeching. You have an externally obstructed view of the falls and at the end of the track you stop and get a beautiful view of the valley (falls not included).
There were two people who operated the train that we came in contact with: one said nothing to anyone, the other was simply rude. During our train ride he approached me to make a request, he was completely condescending despite me being cooperative and apologizing for the crime I had committed (my foot was resting on a chair), and then he topped it all off by educating me on the historical importance of not putting my foot on the old velvet chair while he let a child stand and jump on the seat directly across from us. Nothing was said about that.
All in all, this place could really use some TLC and that could turn it into a more major attraction with better overall guest/employee satisfaction. It wasn’t amazing but it also wasn’t terrible, either.

Picturesque depo with a very small, one room museum; really just a small display of artifacts and boards explaining the origin of the rail line. The train ride is forward to one end, back past the station to the other end, with return - all along side the highway.
No docents. Very underwhelming. A lost opportunity here.

Most boring train ride ever. Don’t waste your money nor time. Drive around instead or use this hour for a hike.
You will see the falls a bit but the view is as good as from the viewing point.
Very disappointing experience

This was the first time my wife and I had rode this train. It is a simple back and forth run between Snoqualmie Falls and North Bend. Unfortunately, there is not much regarding a view of the falls, but seeing the upper workings of the hydro-plant above the falls was cool. The view of the ravine below the falls was amazing though. Additionally, the view of Mt. Si on the way the North Bend was amazing as well.

I am a big rail fan! And seek out tourist trains throughout the western US.
I love the history, the equipment and the people involved in railroading.
If this had been my first experience with a scenic and/or tourist train, it probably would have been my last.
It was a very cold day (42 degrees at 2pm in North Bend), overcast, rainy and gloomy. Which is a perfect description for this trip.
The North Bend train station is not open, so you sit in your car until the train backs into the station. Then you get on the train. No paper tickets required to be printed out, even though the instructions on the email state you must print our the tickets.
The train cars have definitely seen better days. And the little switcher engine pulling our 3-car train looked our of place.
Sadly, the cars are not heated. So bundle up. It was in the very low 40s in the cars. Not an enjoyable environment at all.
The highlight if the trip is supposed to be a view of the falls, however, we were told the tracks were too slippery because of the rain. So we couldn't finish the trip because the tracks on the incline to the falls were too wet.
That's like canceling an event in Phoenix in the summer because it's too hot. It rains all the time here! So whenever it rains, the trip cancels?
Because of the canceled portion of the trip, we sat at the "museum" for 30 minutes. The museum (of course) is not heated either.
All in all, a miserable and disappointing experience. Getting off the train, a couple walked by and shouted how it was, as if they were wanting to go. I told them it was a complete waste of time.
I wish I could have told them something different.

We enjoyed touring and reading the history of the Northwest Railway. A lot of old trains and service cars that helped keep the transportation alive for 150 years. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. A lot of neat stuff in the gift shop. Stop by and support the history of the rails!!

Is The Thomas Museum available before the ride or only at the far end o the ride outside of town? We're trying to decide if it's enuf to arrive early tomorrow (when we have tickets) or will we want to stay at the turnaround site to enjoy tatoos etc.
