A thoughtful, well organized museum. The ladies at the front desk were extremely friendly, and helpful to explain the local story as well as the surrounding attractions.
It's worth it for a 30 minute short stop to explore the history.

Nice museum that tells it's story very well. Another reminder of how our country mistreated native Americans. Reasonable admission and friendly staff.

My wife and I just loved this museum. We are both museum professionals and have visited many tribal museums around the U.S. The Suquamish Museum is one of the very best. Whoever designed the central exhibit space here was nothing short of brilliant. You enter the space and are immediately bowled over by the sense of culture, longhouse, creativity and brightness. There are a broad range of objects on display and ample label copy to keep the visitor engaged and informed. Everything is up to a contemporary professional standard. The secondary exhibit space was devoted to a temporary exhibit on "Chief Seattle Days", on the history of the event and how the Suquamish people participate. We walked by the Veterans Memorial outside the Museum and took a very short walk to pay our respect at the gravesite of Chief Sealth the namesake of the city of Seattle. This Museum is definitely a great place to visit if you have a few days around Bainbridge Island/Poulsbo.

This museum is small and well worth the visit to learn about the native Americans in this area. We highly recommend it.

My kids and I went to this museum and were absolutely touched by the rich history, culture, and pride of the Suquamish people. This museum has stayed in our memories. The grave of Chief Seattle isn’t far from this. His powerful words and the deep connection he and his people had to their ancestral lands is just mind blowing. Don’t miss this museum if you are visiting the Silverdale area!

Like many native cultural centers, the Suquamish Museum was also constructed using high quality materials, aesthetically, artful exhibitions, and engaging multi-media presentations. The focus was on the cultural history of the Suquamish people, including treaties. I was also able to see a special exhibition baskets and basket-making techniques. (Be sure to stop at the cemetery to see the grave site of Chief Sealth and other tribal members mentioned in its history)

もう一歩の深掘りがほしい。歴史面のとかね。この博物館の近くの墓地に、シアトル市の名前の由来となったシアトル酋長の墓がある。徒歩で数分のところなので、忘れずにそこを回っておきたい。

We were headed to one of the state parks & ended up taking a slightly get detour to this museum. It’s a really nice and. Very informative museum. The staff is wonderfully nice; gave the kids a scavenger hunt map: and has a nice, appropriately sized gift shop. Part of the exhibit has amazing photos. Nice place a 60 minute educational break.

Very worth while to visit, and spend an informative hour learning all about the Suquamish tribe, it's history and customs over the years to present day.
10 minute film to watch and lots of exhibits and photographs.
Never knew that Seattle was named after Chief Seattle of the Suquamish Tribe, and that Kitsun (the local newspaper name) was also a tribe chief in years gone by.
This takes about 60 minutes to see everything, but you could reduce that by half if in a hurry.
They have a small gift shop with quality locally made items, and restrooms, with parking behind the museum and entrance on the side.

New to the NWP, this was one of our first stops. After growing up on the east coast, we were amazed at the many differences in lifestyle and culture from the the tribes back east. The exhibits were very impressive from the cedar canoe and sail to the artwork style that has been absorbed in to the mainstream without giving due credit! Their fishing nets were ingeniously. They could give us all lessons on a substainable lifestyle and recycling. Impressive!
