Enjoy the grounds

We went for a tasting but overpriced so bought a bottle of sparking wine and sat outside enjoying the lovely grounds. Same price as a glass at the bar. They check out person gave us nice glasses and napkins.Staff was super friendly. My tip.., ditch the pretentious tastings and buy a bottle to enjoy on the grounds. Ps. Nice music piped in and you can buy food to go.

Extended Hours - Relaxed Way to Visit a Winery

In order to get my wife to visit all my National Parks, I have to find things she loves to do and visiting a winery is top on that list. Thankfully, on Fridays, Chateau Ste. Michelle has extended hours. We crossed the Puget Sound from the Olympics at 4:30 and made it to the winery as those hours started at 5:00. There are no tastings at this time, but the shop stays open to sell bottles you can drink on the grounds until 7:00. This was perfect as we bought two bottles, a chardonnay and a brut rose', and shared them in the shade in front of the Chateau. It is a very relaxed atmosphere that allows you to try what you want and share with friends. We saw several locals out to enjoy the weather, which was perfect, and the company.

While I have enjoyed tastings in Napa, this was a really great way to experience, less formal and more relaxed. We then went inside and ordered a dozen bottles to be shipped to our homes. This was my wife's favorite activity on the trip.

Underwhelmed but overpriced

My husband and I visited the winery on a Thursday afternoon. The property is beautiful but we wished we had gone to a smaller winery for a more authentic experience. The winery did not appear particularly busy but we were told that, due to reservations for wine tastings, they would try to accommodate us. After waiting a few minutes we were approached and advised we could be seated only for a premium wine tasting or just have a glass at the walk up bar. We should have just had a glass at the bar but agreed to the premium tasting, not knowing details. We were ushered into a glass enclosed room and the server was very professional and described the Italian style wines to be poured ( overseen by a partner in Italy but grapes grown and wine made in Washington.)
The tasting of 3 wines plus a 4th bonus wine was $95 plus a 20% tip. So about $120 for what was probably 1 or 1.5 glasses of wine. It wasn’t awful but we’ll try one of the many local wineries next time.
We were told the price of the tasting when we were seated. I guess we expected a better experience but the one Cabernet was the only one we really liked.

Wine visit

While visiting went with my sister and niece. Love this place. The grounds are beautiful and the staff is friendly. The Wines are yummy. Had some wine and selected my favorite and bought some shirts. This is my favorite place and will be back

Past its prime....way past!

Traveled from Nevada to visit w lifelong friends. Approached the bar area to order was told that they are done serving wine flights. Asked in an extremely rude manner by a very young looking guy " What do you want?"When we asked for a recommendation he acted irritated. I am sorry but all five us us in attendance are experienced wine tasters originally from Eastern WA and from our perspective your winery lacks a warm welcoming environment...the grounds are rather run down looking and your staff is extremely rude. I will not be venturing back and when I return home to Las Vegas, NV I will discourage anyone from ordering your wine. Your employees do not care about providing your patrons w a memorable experience nor do they encourage patrons to purchase.

Beautiful grounds, good wine

Went on a hot Tues afternoon. Would have loved to enjoy our wine outdoors, but it was too hot. Airconditioned tasting room was nice. Split one flight among 3 adults. Waiter was generous with our pours! Lovely grounds, good wine. Reasonable bottle prices.

Just ok concert venue

Finally got up to CSM for a concert last night. I understand that this business was recently purchased, so hopefully new ownership will be open to improvements.
With the scale of their concerts, there is little reason for their limited parking and pods of porta-potties. Take a business trip to Mountain winery in Saratoga and take some notes.
Since parking sells out, there should be notice that there is additional parking directly across the street for $50. I see that CSM doesn’t want to promote it since they aren’t profiting, but the info would be helpful to those driving in.
Was lucky enough to have reserved seating. It’s funny that the reserved seats are plastic lawn chairs, but whatever. Gives you plenty of room in your seat.
The entire lawn seating looks like a pain in the booty. Just back to back people on blankets and short beach chairs, which leaves many folks with no real view of the performance, but if you’re just there to have a picnic and have an evening out, no prob.
The security line for lawn seating was long and looked awful. The line for reserved seating was fast and easy.
It was cool to see people wandering around with whole bottles of wine.
As long as you have realistic expectations, should be an enjoyable time.
If CSM is to continue the concert series, build some decent bathrooms and expand parking.

What a quality vineyard tour/tasting!!

I booked their Grand Estate Tour with tastings & food pairings. Glass of champagne to start the tour🥂 My guide Ariel, was very friendly and knowledgeable. The tasting flight with food pairings was INCREDIBLE! Dessert ice wine tasting with chocolate to finish. Great Tour!! I'll def go back again 🍷

We were coming for Gipsy Kings every summer. It used to be wonderful, great atmosphere, fun, picnic on the lawn. You, Chateau Ste. Michelle, you killed it with your stupid rules. Who is running the company anyway?
Now we can bring only the smallest possible cooler, not even butter knife, no folding table. Do I suppose eat like a dog from the ground?
As I said, you killed it. I will not go there for any reason.
