The train ride was awesome! The scenery was beautiful especially up at the falls.and lunch was delicious. The crew was very friendly.

Drove up to the Observation Tower. the road up is a single lane gravel road. be on the look out for cars coming the other way. this single lane portion is a few miles. Once there the climb up the tower gives a commanding view in all directions. if possible try to go on a clear day. When we went it was a medium hazy day, still impressive. Well worth the trek to get there

Just wanted to see what was there. Nice dirt road to the top. The tower was up a short walk. Beautiful view. Could see for miles.

Loved this old observation tower. Great views and an easy climb to get there. This definitely felt like a locals only destination, not really publicized for tourists. I highly recommend this stop to anyone in the area.

The view is amazing from Bickel Knob, it is not too high either, if you want breath taking views I recommend going to this tower!

Only about 4 mile drive to top---then very short walk to tower----some have issues because the stairs are see thru metal--but it really wasn't bad--and worth the view

Social distancing for the day and getting away from all the craziness in the world, I ended up at Bickles Knob. Even though I have lived in Randolph county all my life I had never climbed to the top. Beautiful views and peaceful natural surroundings. It was just what I needed. A brief escape from reality and stresses of the modern world.

On our way to Elkins, found this Observation Tower listed with Tripadvisor. Using the directions on the Forestry website, found the location. There is a four mile drive up to the tower, but be patient. The tower itself was built by the CCC, but the house at the top has been removed. Four stories tall, not for the faint hearted. My wife only made it up to the third story. But the views up top were wonderful. 360 degree view. It was a clear day and literally could see almost forever. But remember, no facilities.

This is the best way to get a 360 degree view of the Elkins area. If you go on a clear day you can see for miles. Beware that you have to travel on a gravel road for several miles to get there, but it is well worth it if the weather is good.

The tower is a 2 minute walk from the small parking lot. The views from the top are fairly impressive. We went on a hazy day, so I'm sure the views could be magnificent on a truly clear day. I would imagine it's a great spot for star gazing too.
I would have given it 5 stars but there was trash in the area and a lot of graffiti.
