Was not open when we arrived during normal hours. Hard for a 3 year old who loves trains to understand they are closed. Won’t waste our time again on this place

Lots to read but very, very informative. Many photos and actual actual railroad artifacts. I also learned where to term "don't take any wooden nickels" came from. The hobos. Very interesting place.

Museums displays of railroad history of the area. Many unique items. Two story display is not overwhelming but is very interesting. Ramp allows access. Very helpful volunteers.

Must-see for history buffs and rail fans

This small museum about railroading in West Virginia is very informative with a very detailed exhibit with many artifacts on display. The exhibits changes every year, so you should come back even if you have been before. This is a must-see for rail fans and history nerds. Anyone else will be able to learn something new. Includes a small gift shop. Admission is a good deal at just $5 per person, but double-check their hours before you visit because they are usually only open Spring-Fall. Conveniently located in downtown Elkins near plenty of shops and restaurants.

This is a rather small museum with a few exhibits. I'm not sure of the cost, as we got in free with a tour, but I would not pay a lot to visit. There were a few interesting things to see, but we must have been in and out within 30 minutes or so.
