What a trip! We started the day knowing the weather was going to be tough (wind, rain, snow, 40 degrees), but David and Mitch were so good to take us out and climb some sweet rock. Rappelling down Bridge Buttress was absolutely the highlight of the trip for me. In spite of the weather, they gave a great experience and taught us basic terms and strategies and we even learned how to tie a figure eight knot (correctly)! These guys are dedicated to giving their guests an awesome experience in spite of the conditions. I would 100% recommend them to anyone wanting to climb the rock in New River Gorge!

My wife, 13 year old daughter, and I had amazing half day of rock climbing with David. David had a great approach to all of our varied skill levels and made us all feel confident and comfortable throughout the climb. As a beginner climber who has recently gotten into the sport a few months ago I really appreciated the insight and advice on all aspects of outdoor climbing. David also provided guidance and tips for my daughter who has been climbing indoors for a few years but has recently ventured outside. The rappel at the end was an awesome way to end the trip and I don’t think any of us would have even considered rappelling if David had not put us all at ease. A truly remarkable experience that we will do again the next time we visit New River Gorge.

If you want to get into outdoor climbing as a relative beginner, if you want to improve your already strong skills, or if you just want to explore lots of routes with experts who know the New River Gorge area extremely well, you should definitely choose the New River Climbing School. I had a very positive experience, learned so much and had a great time climbing many interesting and fun routes. Highly recommended!

WHAT A RUSH! My husband and I had an incredible time on this trip! New River Gorge Climbing/Rappelling made this one of the most exciting days of my life. Our instructor, Dave was knowledgeable, patient and fun! I will DEFINATELY be going back for more adventures!

David really listened to what I wanted to get out of the day and took me to some beautiful and challenging spots to climb and we crushed it!! He's a great guide, providing really helpful feedback and advice. Can't wait to go back!

David was f***ing awesome. He took us to a quiet area, let us warm up nicely, and never hesitated to help or teach. When we had some down time between climbs, he showed us an array of climbing techniques necessary to climb outside. Both my girlfriend and I had a blast, and now feel very confident to climb outside.

I’ve climbed a fair bit in climbing gyms, but wanted a guided lesson for outdoor climbing. I got exactly what I needed from David! He walked me through everything I was unfamiliar with, took me on some great climbs and reinforced good habits. He also helped with some of the lingo and etiquette that I hadn’t picked up on yet. I can’t recommend New River Climbing School enough.

I had not been technical rock climbing in over 2 decades, but was in the New River area, and chose NRCS. Dave quickly got me re-oriented. Top rope belaying seemed awkward but leader belaying seemed better. Looking for holds for feet and hands seemed natural. I remembered how fun climbing is. Can't wait to get myself a new rope and get back to some climbing in earnest. So if you are a new or retired climber, I recommend getting out there and having some fun.

Took my 16 year old son who participates on an indoor climbing team. Dave hiked us into a very special place that was perfect for both me (little experience) and my son. Dave is very knowledgeable of the area, about climbing, and pays get attention to safety and understanding our goals. Just do it!

I booked this on a trip with my son that I homeschool, we came to Fayetteville to mountain bike and we loved this too. We both had climbed indoors only and this was our first outdoor experience. Our guide was David and he was great, took time to explain things, he worked around some weather with us and still made sure we had a great experience! Will do this again when we are in the area!
