This establishment became unreliable in their business hours. I have driven to this place numerous times to unexpectedly find the doors locked. A business will not stay alive without consistency. Call ahead!

Great place!

I was delighted to find this little treasure in my hometown. The atmosphere was quaint and the menu item names unique. Brews refers to coffee, not beer. I highly recommend the BBQ chicken pizza. It was delicious!

Great little place

Consistently pleasant staff. Had sandwiches and pizza at two visits here while my mother was in rehab fAcility nearby. Peach or mango ice tea brewed when you order and not sweet a rarity around here! Both great. Tons of different sandwiches. Liked the Longfellow. The Parkersburg pizza. Basically good variety and great service in an unexpected place just when we needed it.

If you are looking for a place to have a good brew and enjoy a board game this place is for you. Minor miscommunication with a staff member who poured the wrong beverage for me, but the owner corrected the mistake.

This was such a great find in a small WV town. Really cool atmosphere with all the books and decor. Staff is very nice and friendly. Lots of good sandwiches ( all literary themed ) and small pizzas are also great. They have many craft beers and they brew a wicked cup of coffee. Go hang out. Listen to good music, Have a nice meal and sip some coffee or a beer. Right in down town Hurricane. Who knew? lol

Getting Better

I hate to write a great review because this place is beginning to get busy. Don't get me wrong, I loved Books and Brews the first moment that I stepped in! It's just getting better and better...

The drink selection has expanded and the prices are great. Everything from pop (soda) to beer and wine is available and the I can afford to have a nice beverage. Think hot chocolate with delicious whipped cream...peppermint or no!

The food is also great. The pizzas are cheesy and delicious. The salads are huge and fresh. The baked goods are yummy!

If you've not been, you're missing out!

Cute place, way too cramped

We drove almost 2 hours earlier in December and went in and it was extremely crowded...almost every table was full and the tables were extremely close to each other, no privacy. The books in the room were on shelves behind people's tables where people were eating, so it was awkward to browse the books while everyone stared at you. We also never managed to get an employee to acknowledge us. We ended up leaving after a quick browse and going to a different place.

It is a cute little place and I'm sure some people love it, but if crowds and cramped spaces bother you, you might want to choose another destination or else try to find a time when it's not so crowded. The food smelled great and the people visiting looked to be having a great time.
