We enjoyed a lovely performance of The Nutcracker. Nice little theatre, with comfortable seating. The staff really did their best to make sure everyone had a nice time.

Very nice little theater. See the presentations up close. The seats a very comfortable.

We visited the Smoot theater on a Friday evening to watch Ronnie Mc Dowell in concert. I thoroughly enjoyed the show. It is so nice to be able to watch a show like this without having to travel a long distance. I will definitely go back.

This is a beautiful vaudeville era theater in downtown Parkersburg. It has been wonderfully restored and is an excellent space for music and plays. The theater could be a great community space, but the only events held cater to the 70+ crowd. This theater deserves to be used more often than the very limited number of events that it holds.

I have attended many events here. All of the entertainment has been wonderful . Historic Theater worth visiting.

We visited this lovely old theater to watch a performance by "Gentleman's Rule", an a cappella group from Chicago. They were wonderful, the music was amazing and very professionally presented. It was hard to believe that they were not performing with an entire orchestra even in the selection that was not only without accompaniment but also without microphones.
The Smoot deserves some accolades too, especially considering that the performance did include music without amplification. The acoustics were brilliant and the theater was elegant and beautiful. I love being in this old building with a fresh, comfortable and warm feel. I am so lucky to live near the Smoot.
I had such a great time and now am a proud holder of a season ticket to all the acts to be presented this season. I can't wait for the next show!

This old, but revived theater is a gem of the Parkersburg area on 5th Street in downtown.
The shows are among the best anywhere and are always presented at a reasonable price.
Any musical/theatrical taste will find something to enjoy, from children's shows to touring Broadway shows to big name performers of all types - classical to rock to country/western.
This place was rescued from destruction by a group of people dedicated to preserving something wonderful from the early 20th century, and is currently managed by artistic director, Felice Jorgeson; who tirelessly brings top drawer shows and musical acts to the Smoot stage. She also directs the amazing Smoot House Band of local musicians, which is highly competent.

The Smoot is an older theater that continues to provide opportunities for live entertainment (music, plays, etc.) for the community. The management takes their responsibility and contribution to this area seriously which makes the acts dependably good and enjoyable. Parkersburg, for a small WV town, has an amazingly attractive theater community.
