Yummy, yummy cheese curds. Polite and friendly gentleman at the register. Nice selection of products. Worth the few miles drive off the highway.

Heard about this little cheese factory what “old school” or “old world” cheese processing. A must stop if in the area. Many Amish delights and their awesome cheese.

Great selection and prices of cheese

The very friendly owner is very knowledgeable and a pleasure to talk to. We always make it a point to drive out through the Amish farm country to purchase from his creamery. He has a good variety and all delicious.

Everything in this store is made locally. Not just cheese, but crafts and foods made by local exerts.You will not find better cheese or prices anywhere.

Great people and selection of Amish items

We had the opportunity to meet one of the nicest and helpful people at the Old Country Cheese shop. The shop is full of cheeses and Amish items at a reasonable price. The ice cream is an incredible bargain at $2.00 for two huge scoops. This was the highlight of our drive through Amish country.

Recent Cheese Tour brought us to this treasure. Worth the drive into the heart of Amish country. Milk is delivered from hand milked cows in metal milk cans. Who does it that way anymore? Eddie was so friendly and a wealth of information. Cheese prices alone make it worth the drive. Hours old curds available daily.

A Bit of a Drive, But Worth the Effort

Old Country Cheese sells a wide selection of preserves, snacks, maple syrup, honey, snacks, crackers and, yes, cheese from a retail store off County D. The road is right in the middle of Amish country and does include items from those local families. A few table and chairs in front of the cheese cases would make this an interesting impromptu lunch place to go.

The cheese is made fresh in an adjoining building and brought over to the retail store. We scored an incredible 12-year Cheddar Cheese (samples are available). That was much less per pound than comparable cheeses in the big city markets.

Locating the store was a bit of a challenge. We started from Hwy 131, turned onto D and curved and cut across scenic Currier and Ives-type farm scales. I thought we were going to end up in someone's front driveway. But, be persistent and you will be rewarded at the end.
