Didn't stay at the resort but did play golf. Very challenging course. In places was a trip in the woods and wonderful nature. Course is up and down and very challenging. Had a great time playing and looking at nature.

I wouldn't take my wife and kids to stay here but it worked out fine for a guys golf trip. The resort rooms haven't been updated in 30 years. The beds, while small, were comfortable enough for one night of sleep. But all the furniture is dated, they have no outlets to plug things in except by the sink, the carpet was vacumned, the bathroom floor had hairs from a prior guest, the tv was ancient and had horrible picture quality and the window didn't lock. (I had a 1st floor room so that was a little concerning). Luckily the mini fridge worked and there was good water pressure on the shower.

Indoor pool area was fine except there were no chairs or tables to put your stuff so you had to leave it on the dirty cement floor.

As for the golf courses, they are in decent shape. There are some tee boxes that need a lot of work, a few greens that were beat up and the bunkers were atrocious. Their courses are really beautiful and this could be a destination resort if they put some money into it. One thing that really irked me is that the starter shack didn't mention that there is no halfway house to get food and drinks halfway through either course so if you didn't somehow know to stock up at the beginning, you are out of look for refreshment unless they have a beverage cart roaming. (which they didn't one of the days when it was in the mid-80s.) They still don't have the water coolers out on the tee boxes so that was a real bummer on a hot day.

This place is great at one thing; charging 5 star prices and delivering 2 star amenities. No cable, old decor, bed springs that pop, dirty carpet, towels as thin as paper, and no one EVER came in and turned down the room or cleaned up. AND NO ONE ENFORCING THE MASK POLICY! Who ever owns or manages this place doesn’t give two s$&ts!

Went to the “fine dining” restaurant and ordered a 35$ steak. Got a sizzler thin piece of meat, with literally frozen vegetables. You know the old bag of broccoli cauliflower and carrots that end up being just broccoli stems!! I mean is broccoli that expensive that 35$ doesn’t cover fresh vegetables?

Lifts are slow and they didn’t make snow at night knowing the weekend we went the conditions were warming and snow would be needed.

I know what I sound like, but they want to charge resort prices but not deliver the expected service that comes with it. Ski here but don’t stay and eat.

I was very nervous about our trip after reading reviews here. We had a great experience. Staff was very friend and very accommodating. We took 8 kids with us ranging from 12-17 stayed in the hotel. They also were great to the kids as well. We had a very smooth check in without any wait. We had 2 people that rented equipment which also went very smoothly as well. The rooms were dated but clean. The pizza was great and the rest of the food was good as well. The runs were well groomed and I had no concerns with the lifts. We absolutely would go back. Yes it is not a top notch Colorado ski resort, so if this is what you are expecting spend the money and go there.

My wife and I went there on Feb 15 and 16, 2021. She took a beginner's lesson from an instructor named Stephen, and I took an intermediate lesson from an instructor named Denny. We were both blown away at how good the instruction was. In both cases, they tailored the lesson to our respective skill levels. Stephen was encouraging and patient with my wife, and by the end of the lesson she was no longer wedging her way down the hill but was skiing mostly parallel. She was even doing some decent hockey stops! It was great to see.

I am an intermediate skier, and Denny devised a lesson that really got in at what I was hoping to accomplish. He was detail oriented, and was able to pick up on certain nuances in my technique that enabled me to actually fix certain things and improve on others. It was a private lesson and as he happened to not have anything pressing immediately afterwards, he was very generous with his time and we went well over our allotted hour. I had taken a lesson in Breckenridge a few weeks prior, and I thought that Denny's lesson was far superior to what I had experienced out west.

Finally, when I had some questions, I spoke to a person named Michael who runs the ski school program. He too was very patient and answered my questions. When I complained about the slushy conditions (it was warm on our second day), he showed me how to take off some of the wax from my skis so as to help deal with that issue.

I was really happy and impressed with our experience there. We will absolutely be returning.

We booked our (2) lift tickets ( we have our own gear) for our visit on February 20th 2021 well in advance in the belief that once the resort had reached safe capacity they would cease to issue anymore lift tickets. As soon as we arrived at the resort at approximately 9.30 am it was very obvious that this wasn't the case as we were directed past one car park after another. We would have turned around but after a 3 hour drive this was not an option. Once we were on the slopes the state of the runs were good although for some reason (2) of the lifts were not running which was amazing considering the hordes of people present on the slopes and the cost of nearly $ 70 per lift ticket. Waiting in line is part of the ski/snowboard experience but not when you have to wait for such a long time ( 15-20 mins) for the typically short Mid West resort runs. We would have liked to stay longer but the lines were getting longer making it more of a exercise in endurance as opposed to what has been on previous years visits an enjoyable day out at Devils Head.

I would advise anyone to reconsider visiting Devils Head at this time as the facilities are also sadly lacking ( toilets missing lights, hand driers not working, toilet not flushing in the ladies, empty soap dispensers . We didn't dare visit any of the other facilities due to the amount of people present along with the dilapidated state of the bathrooms being any indication of the food outlets.

The sad, enabling thing about this 1 star experience is that I'll still go back. I have almost come to believe that this place in part thrives on the hot mess that it is.

Here's the deal, Devil's Head Resort has been lousy for all 20+ years I have gone there. It's poorly managed, full of extremely young seasonal employees who don't really understand or care about customer service, they are poorly trained, and the property at this point is run down, beat up, and is like a preserved time capsule from the 1990's. The TV in our room in Feb 2021 is a Panasonic tube TV that is from the 1990's literally. The kind that was advertised as "Y2K Compliant". Our refrigerator was broken, vanity lights burned out in the bathroom, extremely loud exhaust fan, all the furniture was old and beat up, rusty lamps, and room not well cleaned. Glad we brought our own cleaning supplies to disinfect the place! We had coupons for breakfast and lunch, but the staff told us the wrong times for those meals, twice, so on both days we were there we were not able to use our coupons for at least one of the meals. Not sure if that was on purpose to make us miss the meals so they wouldn't have to serve us. Cornucopia restaurant had better food, better service than other options at the resort.

Check in for equipment rentals was a free-for-all. Customers everywhere and no employees directing traffic or organizing anything. Just a mob of people pushing each other around to fight their way to the front. Just a nightmare and no one at Devil's Head cared.

The ski conditions are generally pretty decent and when it's not crowded, it can be a really fun time and in my opinion, one of the better choices around. If the skiing was anything less than what it is, it would make the rest of the Devil's Head experience absolutely intolerable.

The bars can be fun there too, but even during COVID, on a Saturday night the main bar was slammed, where you couldn't even get through the door. 3 deep at the bar, no social distancing, no masks, etc. No thanks.

Hoping that one day Devil's Head can turn it around! Would love to see it cleaned up, remodeled, substantially more customer oriented. I don't think that will ever happen, so we just go in knowing it will be a $#@-show.

Just got back from a trip this weekend. We had two families with 4 kids total ages 8 - 17. We had a great time. The inn was outdated but was overall nice. We were on the 3rd floor and had access to the lodge through the cat walk. The kids enjoyed the pool and skiing. Front desk was were friendly and helpful. If renting equipment I recommend getting them the night before especially if you have lessons. Ski lifts were great I can only complain on one thing the lift operator had a pile up at the top of the green and should of stopped the lift. Several people fell and we had to avoid skiing over a few guests. Chelsey was a great ski instructor for our son. He did a great job and enjoyed night skiing by himself. Cornucopia restaurant was great. I recommend the pork chops with the mushroom cream sauce and the salmon with the dill sauce. Breakfast was great the next morning Waflles, Hash Browns, Eggs, Bacon, Sausage and fruit. It would be great if they had a kids club or hang out space for the kids. We can't wait to book another trip.

Three days prior to our trip, we saw that Cascade Mountain had (prudently) sold out of their available lift passes available for the weekend (I'm sure those who skied there had a safe and enjoyable day). So we pre-purchased our rentals and lift passes at Devil's Head three days in advance which entitled us to - nothing! We arrived at 10am and trudged 400 yards to the entrance where it was completely disorganized and mobbed. No one instructed people where to go for either rentals or passes and there was zero distancing. It took over an hour just to get through the ticket then rental lines. They just opened it up to everyone and didn't care about the experience, just a cash grab. Ski terrain at least was groomed and nice, but lines were unfathomably long and the chairlift even got stuck for 15 minutes! Never will go back to this circus.

We got to Devil’s Head on Saturday at 10:00am. Bought lift tickets online, had our own equipment, brought lunch and read all the Covid protocol before we arrived. We needed to print off our lift tickets and the line is hundreds of people long! I start asking around as there has to be a separate line for no rentals need and to just print a lift ticket. After 20 mins I finally find someone outside and she shows me where the line is suppose to be and because of my prompting redirects a few hundred people into two lines, rentals needed and lift tickets only. No on was managing anything proactively, everything was chaos. We waited in line 30 mins to get our lift ticket printed not ideal but whatever. My cousin on the other hand was the only person in our party that didn’t have equipment. He waited in line for two hours and by the time he got up front they were out of snowboards, only had skis. He asked again and they found a kids snowboard he ended up using but was not a great riding experience but better than having to learn how to ski. The line was inside, no social distancing for over an hour of the wait. People were vaping inside!! Blowing particulate all over! Hey let’s just create a Covid super spreader! You can’t have a wedding for a 150 people right now but you can stand shoulder to shoulder while people smoke inside and half are not masked next to strangers at Devil’s Head! Two lifts and runs were down. No one seemed to be running the place and the lift lines were 20+ mins long each run. I overheard people that drove over 4+ hours not end up with equipment. They need to cap capacity, follow Covid protocol and hire more staff. The attached picture is of a lift line. Can you even see where it ends?!
