It is CLOSED! Website says it is open. Went and found it locked. We called and the owner said he has closed the place. Don’t go!

This is a must do! Owned and operated for years by a retired teacher & her lobsterman husband this is an experience that educates, delights, entertains and immerses you and all ages in the lobsterman culture, local plants/animals, and Maine history. Excellent displays, informed presentations by people who live it, the touching tank is great ,,, again a must do!

We've visited in 2005, and again in 2015. We find the educational displays and active lobster hatchery highly interesting and very informative, not only for showing the life cycle of lobsters, but at the cooperation of fishermen in working to give lobsters a head start to assure a sustainable harvest. There is an interpretive talk and demonstration given from inside a lobster boat which will engage young people, and various aquariums displaying live sea creatures from the region.

Very slow presentation with very little interesting information. The presenter was friendly and humorous, but it was definitely not worth $12.

We saw ads for this all around, only to drive over there to find it closed. Like very closed...a tarp covering the sign. There’s isn’t any indication as to why or if it’ll ever open. Saw nothing regarding a closure on their website either.

We went here last year and unfortunately they had cancelled the marsh walk. However, we did all the lectures they had. Everyone who reviews seems to forget the touch tank. My son lost his mind watching the moon snail snot itself up and the sea cucumber voiding its water. Great and friendly staff. I don't mind paying the money to support their cause.

There is definitely the good, the bad and the ugly at this Aquarium. The good is that the owner’s cause is noble. The bad is this facility in bad need of tender loving care, investment and renewed vision and the fact that their hatchery was not in operation highlights the root of the problem - by the owner’s own admission they cannot attract the staff they need to operate the hatchery and as a consequence it was not pursued this year. The ugly is, despite the wealth of knowledge of the owner, it is difficult given his age and poor hearing to properly connect with his audience. This is a real deficit considering that you are basically paying a tidy sum for a lecture oriented experience as there nothing to see or touch in this so called ‘aquarium’. It is also quite pricey considering all of this and anyone on a tight vacation budget would be annoyed, perhaps angry. We found the owner charming in his ‘stories’ which had redeeming qualities but most of us left with genuine regret. Don’t go here.

Great learning experience and seeing the lobster hatchery was quite interesting. Lots of info on the native animal life!

Unfortunately when we visited, the lobster hatchery was closed which was the main reason of the visit. And we were not told until we had payed already. So I didn't find it a good value for money. There were two lectures that I found very interesting and so did my teenage son. We had a great time!

The four of us spent about 2-2 1/2 hours there and are glad we did. The information we received was very well presented and interesting. Even walking through the marsh land afterward was a great experience.
