The museum was very good, as usual. Always enjoy their Rodin collection especially. But was very disappointed to go back to the car and find a window punched out. Ours was one of several. We’ve lived in the Bay Area for a long time, so that kind of activity isn’t new, but in this case the only parking for the museum is their surface lot - thieves obviously know that people will leave their car unattended for several hours. Even though there was nothing in the vehicle (and therefore nothing taken) we still have to deal the the damage costs to the rental car our family had. The museums staff was kind of cavalier about our experience, so I assume they are unlikely to add any security to their lot.
BOTTOM LINE - IF YOU WANT TO VISIT THE LEGION OF HONOR MUSEUM DO NOT PARK THERE - take a ride share, taxi or the bus.

Beautiful location - wonderful sculptures - and an awesome presentation within the gallery space.
GREAT bargain - you can tour this museum and the DeYoung Museum in Golden Gate Park - on the same day for a single admission.
My 10-year-old granddaughter enjoyed the sculptures as much as me - what a surprise!

The building itself is a hot-spot. Additionally to the art exhibition, take some time to enjoy the surroundings.

Fabulous collection and great architecture. Well worth the value.
Ideal size for a 2-3 hour visit which is perfect for a museum.

DO NOT GO HERE. Our car has been broken into and others as well and there is nothing anyone can do. They obscure and say it's not the museum's fault and the parking lot is not their jurisdiction, it's the City and County of San Francisco. have been to the Legion of Honor several times and had no issues. STAY AWAY.
The issue that I have ok, the parking is not their jurisdiction, put a sign in the lobby or verbally let you know that this is happening.

This is a decent museum to visit - nothing too special if you've been to some museums in Europe. The building itself is quite beautiful, but I wouldn't recommend this to someone who wasn't already going to be in the area.

Amazing classical architecture with a unique view . We had a lovely lunch in the cafe before enjoying a wonderful Chamber Music concert in the Gunn Theatre.

it did not work out quite right.......I couldn't find a conformation the museum wanted and I had to purchase another ticket......I paid 88.00 for a membership.....???????

The exhibit of Gupta Pei’s designs is amazing. On until the end of November, is a must see if you are in San Francisco.
The restaurant has a limited but very good selection. I had the turkey sandwich that was perfect.

Take a shared ride service. However, be aware that Lyft's system places the dropoff and pickup places at the back of the building, not at the front entrance. Have them drop you off at the front, otherwise you'll be walking around a rather large building.

I think that you can see the high lights of the museum in under 2 hours
Saw some beautiful pictures of the outside, including a lawn and fountain and statue and all - do you have to buy a ticket to walk the outside section of the museum?

It's. Eden there for a while so the crowds are not as bad as when it opened. I'd recommend during the week if that's an option. I was there in a Sunday and even then the crowds were not too bad. I'm guessing a weekday morning would be best
