I am based in Paris and had to arrange a private tour of Boston as a farewell gift for a colleague who is moving there.
I was lucky enough to find Ben Edwards who understood right away what we were looking for and offered us a personalized "all inclusive" private tour.
He was able to make this a very special day for our colleague, who shared many wonderful photos with us, and explained how passionate and knowledgeable Ben was.
As agreed, everything was included in the price and our colleague didn't have to pay for anything on the day, not even her coffee.
Ben also agreed to be paid by Wise Transfer instead of Paypal, which allowed us to reduce transfer fees.

What a treat!
I really enjoyed the walked back in history. Ben was extremely passionate and knowledgeable, so I felt I learnt loads already… although Ben did not miss to give me some homework to do, with interesting books to read (including his!) and historical movies to watch too.
As part of the tour, Ben also ensure to organize an amazing food experience, so I enjoyed a fancy breakfast in a very posh (and haunted!) hotel and a delicious oyster plate (with wine, of course!) in the oldest US restaurant… and, of course, tasted my first Boston pie. It was such a treat, I truly felt like a princess! Sorry, I should say like Jackie Kennedy! Oh, did I mention I had a proper Italian espresso too? Amazing. Truly, I am so thankful for the experience… It was the best introduction to Boston I could ever get!

Walking tours are a must for getting a lot out of a short trip/vacation and Ben was excellent. He is extremely knowledgeable and goes out of his way to ensure you have a great tour. We strongly recommend Ben for your next visit to Boston!

Ben was an excellent tour guide. This was the perfect tour for our group of three and it was exactly the small tour experience we were looking for. Ben had so much insider knowledge and showed us so many hidden spots rich with history that the average passerby wouldn’t pick up on. On top of all that Ben travelled with numerous original documents, newspapers and photographs that brought the history alive.
I can’t recommend Ben enough. His tour is the perfect way to get the most out of the freedom trail.

Superb! That is the best word to describe the guided tour that Ben conducts along Boston’s Freedom Trail. He has extensive knowledge of his subject, but is also enthusiastic, entertaining and very generous with his time. His passion for Boston is apparent from the moment the tour begins. I would strongly recommend him to anyone who wants to learn about this city and it’s essential history.

This was the fifth time I hosted my group to take the Boston Walking Tour with our superb guide, Mr. Ben Edwards. Ben provided an exceptionally professional and enjoyable experience that engages our imaginations and inspires us to learn more about historic Boston. I plan another tour with Ben in the Fall because of the strong, positive feedback from all participants indicating his planning and execution resulted in a totally enjoyable experience.

My family and I visited Boston over the July 4th holiday. We love American history and wanted an in-depth private tour that would really give us a feel of the city and its historical past. I did a lot of research to find the perfect tour guide and did I ever hit the jack pot with Ben Edwards! He was so engaging, thorough, knowledgeable, and full of energy. He kept the attention of my 10 year old son with games, questions, prizes and lots of cool historical facts. We were “on the go” from 9:30 am until he dropped us off at 5pm at our hotel, with stops for breakfast and lunch at historical restaurants. He brought to life the colorful past of the city, its role in the American revolution, how the Revere family story is woven through Boston’s history, and many other amazing facts one would never know without the guidance of someone who had spent their life studying and researching its history. He had maps, books, coins, artifacts, and a backpack full of treasures to give picture to the story he told. It is evident that Ben does this job because he loves it. He has dedicated his life to preserving his family’s past, understanding Boston’s complex history and sharing his knowledge with others. He’s particularly good with kids - my son loved meeting Ben and spending the day with him and claims our day with him was his favorite day on our trip!
Do yourself a HUGE favor and hire Ben to share his knowledge about Boston. I HIGHLY recommend him and his tours. You will not be disappointed.

We took the Freedom trail tour with Ben who is a relative of Paul Revere!! Ben is very knowledgeable about the various historic sites as well as some hidden spots that most won't notice. He'll also take your pictures at different sites and send them to you the same day. We left with a parting gift of his Children’s book, which is amazing. People who take the tour have access to historic original documents on his website. I would highly recommend this tour to everyone. It was awesome! Make sure to try the Boston cream pie at the Omni Parker and wear good walking shoes.

My wife, daughter and I had a wonderful walking tour with Ben Edwards last week. His enthusiasm for his city and its history is infectious. He was easy to work with and flexible to create a tour to accommodate our schedule and interest. We accomplished far more in 3.5 hours than we would have otherwise been able to enjoy, with far greater detail and interesting facts included.

Hi we will be in Boston and would like to do this tour. Wondering if it’s dog friendly? If so what are the costs? How long is the tour?

Hello! I would not recommend dogs on this tour as you will be in and out of several historical buildings where dogs would not be welcome ( not to mention eating establishments if you elect the full day tour). The length of tours vary depending on your needs/wants. My sons and I did 5.5 hours costing $650.00 ( with a nice tip) and it was worth every penny. I hope this is helpful.

Thanks for contacting me. As noted on my website, I offer private tours from late March to the end of December. I am closed during the winter months. I do have weekend openings in April, beginning with April 1 and 2. I see that you are from New Jersey. Do you have the option to visit Boston in the spring? what kind of pace is this tour? i have some slow walkers? are there many hills and such?

If you are doing Ben Edward's Tour he is fantastic! He will pace it, whatever you like. It is flat a lot of the time, but there are some small hills to walk. You go at your pace that you can. I am 60 and have RA and I did it fine! So anyone can do it! Ben is a super person and he is actually related going all the way back in time. It is like touching history thru Ben, AND IT REALLY IS!
