This is one of the most surreal beaches I have been to in the world. Sure the water is cold and it’s a hike up and down the steep dunes, but those two things people complain about are pros (not cons to me).
The beach doesn’t get very busy because people are too lazy to make the trek. The tide is so fierce that you can only go out in the water a few feet until getting pushed back in, but it makes it fun.
The ocean is so loud that you can’t hear people that are 15 feet away from you, which makes it feel like no one else is there.
There are also sea lions that you can pretty much always see floating by in the summer.
The only reason I wouldn’t rate this higher is because I don’t want more people to know about it.
I used to go to cape cod 5-6 times a summer and always had a good time. Now I am never going to another beach on the cape.
Beachcomber is awesome too.

This beach is awesome….but…there is a steep decline and incline on the way in and out so plan accordingly because it can be a kick in the butt to drag all your stuff out at the end of the day and if you have older relatives it can be quite burdensome. I love this beach however. Another drawback is the amount of rocks on the shoreline can make it difficult getting out of the water( wear water shoes if need be).
The water is clear the beach doesn’t get too crowded because of the limited parking spaces. People not accustomed to Massachusetts beaches will say the water is cold but on a hot July or August day it is perfect.
Love this beach even with the flaws states above.

Paid $31.50 to park here, there is a 30 foot sliding dune to get down to the beach, and the beach is SUPER rocky. We got bit by swarms of horseflies the whole time, and left after an hour. About had a heart attack walking back up the sliding dune. Will not be back and do not recommend!

As mentioned you do need a parking sticker, but tourist can actually buy the parking stickers from Wellfleet Chamber of Commerce, so the beach is not limited to locals. People on the travel forum, who have been there, will tell you
A parking sticker is good for the beaches and lakes in Wellfleet & a weekly sticker is a good idea if you are staying in the area. The web site has maps of paid lots and sticker lots, also if lots are full you may not have a spot (even with a sticker) so people often recommend getting in early on busy days or going later in the afternoon. Enough about parking, the beach is breathtaking & amazing for scenic walks.

For a beach that is owned by US federal taxpayers, they limit this beach to locals. What nonsense. I and all of you US Citizens literally own this beach, but we are not allowed to access this beach or park our cars. I am glad ot pay for parking, but they say only locals can even pay for parking. This is not town owned land, but the US Dept. of the Interior lets the town run this place. They keep out everyone but locals.

If your not into crowds this in the beach to go. Can walk to Cohoon Hollow where the Beachcomber is for a bite. Great dunes, steep dune to get to beach but very doable

Love this beach during summer when Marconi is teaming with people. The parking lot is small so the beach is never crowded. Get there before 11AM for a spot.

White Crest is a beautiful windswept beach. Access is via a steepish dune with soft sand. It's quite the workout to come back up after a day at the beach. My family often parks at White Crest and walks down the beach to the Beachcomber on Cahoon Hollow for lunch. The walk back negates all the fried food calories, right (OK, maybe not).
The water is very cold here--too cold for me to get in beyond my ankles. There are often surfers, and it's a good place to spot seals. White Crest is much less crowded than the other Wellfleet ocean beaches. For a long walk, this is one of the best spots on the Cape.

Great beach - however, you'd better be physically able to climb down and up a very long, steep hill to get to the ocean. I'd compare access to the beach like the trails you'd ride a donkey down at the Grand Canyon.
We chose this beach after not being able to get into the Beachcomber just up the road. The good news is that there's a free shuttle from the beach to the Beachcomber every few minutes, so whether you want to park at White Crest ($30) and spend the day at Beachcomber, or spend the day at White Crest and jump over to Beachcomber for lunch, you can do it. There's also a nice food truck in the parking lot of this beach as an option, and though I didn't eat there, the staff was friendly and the selection and pricing seems good.
The beach has some great waves. My oldest sons first venture into the surf found him getting humbled by the size of the wave that threw him to the ground like a piece of meat. The waves are on the larger size for the cape, and of course lots of rocks in the surf, which is typical of Cape beaches. We saw lots of seals, a whale and while there, the beach a few miles up the road had a shark attack on a man who was 30 yards in the surf. We saw the Coast Guard and lots of helicopters as it was happening. Very scary, but a reality when swimming in Cape waters.
Great beach overall, but stay close to real little ones, as with the size of the waves, comes bigger undertow.
