The Met Breuer is an extension of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Contemporary collections and special exhibitions. There is always something new here to do or see. I came in tonight for a private membership viewing of the new Gerhard Richter exhibition. It was a little too much for me but it was nice to have all the curators and docents on hand to explain the work. Very contemporary works.
The museum is very intimate in size and you can see the whole museum in one evening. It was nice to just wander the galleries and see the works with the other members.

Our mid February 2020 visit was beyond underwhelming. Only two floors (floors two and five, one gallery each) were open.
The fifth floor was "selections from the Rubenstein" gift. I kid you not, according to the Met's own website, "this exhibition will highlight and celebrate some fifty works from the gift....". So only one room with only 50 works, many of which were not even originals (signed and numbered prints, for example).
The second floor was a bit better, "recent acquisitions in context", but again, only one gallery with maybe 60 works, the most marquee item being a set of six matched Andy Warhol acrylics of Chairman Mao.
So for perspective, the Met Fifth Avenue has over a million works on display. The Met Breuer, which is a large five story building, has a little over 100, almost none of which are particularly noteworthy. We knew this location was smaller, but certainly didn't understand how much smaller and less significant. Certainly nothing worthy of the Met name, and currently a total waste and gross under utilization of space.
On the positive, when we arrived about 30 minutes after opening, we were literally - no exaggeration - the only visitors in the building. It was our own private Met. By the time we left 30 minutes later (and we very much took our time, and saw everything), there were maybe 5 or 6 other visitors. Also to the positive, all three Met locations are included under one ticket, so this was just an included add-on.
I'm not sure what the Met was trying to do with this location, but whatever it was, it hasn't been successful.

I can't help but marvel at the people who say they can't stand abstract art or modern art or contemporary art and then assign a poor rating to this museum. I wonder what they expected.
The $25.00 admission fee would be terribly overpriced if it didn't permit THREE DAYS of entry to not only Met Breuer but also the Met and Met Cloisters. That is a very good deal. Because only two floors of exhibits were open when I visited, the clerk at the desk informed me I could pay what I wished. Fair enough. I enjoyed the two exhibits I did see, "Home Is a Foreign Place: Recent Acquisitions in Context" and "From Géricault to Rockburne: Selections from the Michael and Juliet Rubenstein Collection."
I find the architecture to be monumental, despite the building's actual size. My only real complaint is the lack of seating. I had a foot problem the day I was there and appreciated the many benches, some padded, where I could sit and rest my foot. The second floor, however had zero benches, which I thought was very poor planning and not very visitor-focused. I think management could easily move at least one of the fifth floor benches to the second. I've never been to a museum without a single bench on an entire floor. I might not have noticed had my foot not been hurting, but I'm certain I'm not the only person who has a mobility impairment and could appreciate a place to perch for a few minutes. Overall, however, I recommend the Met Breuer.

You have today and tomorrow as last days for Vija Celmins. Splendid exhibition of this Latvia-born artist. Taking every day still items or surroundings (in indefinite form) for her paintings / graphics / drawings.
There is still More time for interesting exhibition "Home is a foreign place", with recent museum acquisitions of modern / contemporary art from Asia, Latin America, North Africa and Middle East. Art from these regions meets works by modern American artists from museum collection. This lasts till June 2020.

Primero quiero contar que con la entrada del met se puede entrar a este museo en el mismo día sin pagar nueva entrada.

There was a controversy between the tickets we bought including four days of attractions and the tickets that the Met sales which include three days. So they wanted us to afford the tickets again. We didn't visit this museum and I think we won't visit it in the future.

il ne faut pas hésiter à entrer dans l'un des buildings les plus extraordinaires de new york. la décoration (béton brut) et les expositions sont pour le moins minimalistes. au milieu de la frénésie de la ville, vous serez seuls ou presque. le restaurant vaut le voyage à lui seul: c'est raffiné et servi avec beaucoup de finesse. un serveur parle français.dernier point, vous rentrez avec le billet du metropolitan qui est valable trois jours. gardez le bien dans votre poche, il sert aussi pour les cloitre à fort tyron

It’s great to come here for the changing exhibitions but it’s also great to just visit the building itself. It’s a prime example of concrete architecture of top quality at every single level of detail. I love it!!

My first visit to this Metropolitan Museum of Art venue. The building is amazing - Breuer was a talented man. The exhibit we saw was equally amazing - Vija Celmins: To Fix the Image in Memory. If you have the opportunity to see the show at Met Breuer, please check it out, or her paintings elsewhere please check them out. The work is hard to explain. While at the museum, please do the architecture tour as I missed that timing-wise as we had to be elsewhere by 5.00 pm. We had TV parking on Park Avenue, by the way, a few blocks away.
