Die Welt in Queens - The Unisphere - das war der Hauptgrund des heutigen Ausflugs
"The Unisphere“ eine 42 Meter hohe Weltkugel mitten im Flushing Meadows Park hatte ich mir notiert.
Die Weltkugel wurde 1964 errichtet , sie ist 42 m hoch und der Durchmesser beträgt 37 m.
Schade, dass an diesem Tag die Brunnen nicht in Aktion waren.

On the way to the tennis center, it is a nice sight to see. On a breezy day the mist feels pretty good. Nice flowers in the area. If you’re going there before November, walk north and check out the LL Cool J statue.

Too young to visit the '64 Worlds Fair, but visited the Unisphere on a recent visit to NYC.
From Times Square or Grand Central , take the # 7 subway to the Mets-Willets Point stop (both local & Express #7 stop at this station). Use the MTA subway app for instructions.
Head due south of the station on the wooden walkway till it enters the park. Then turn right and the path will lead you to the Unisphere. Fountains weren't working as of the date of visit, but well worth the effort. Image the crowds in '64 and the World of Progress that awaited the Baby Boomer generation.

The water around this smelt funny. The visitor is supposed to stare at the object. That is it. Not inspiring.

Esta linda Unisphere fica em uma das entradas do Central Park. Passamos por ela durante um tour com o hop on hop off. É enorme, muito vistosa e significativa! Mas tudo bem para caminhar ao redor dela a caminho do Lincoln Center.

Very cool. Iconic spot. Beautiful foliage in the park this time of year. Queens museum is interesting right next to it. Park there to see unisphere and go into queens museum to see the detailed relief map of nyc 5 boros and interesting art installations.

Un parque muy grande, con este monumento espectacular, si bien el acceso no esta muy bien señalizado, de noche hay caminos muy oscuros, pero vale la pena.

Nosotros lo visitamos dentro de la escursion de Contrastes. En este parque se celebró la Feria Mundial de Nueva York de 1964, y hay restos de aquello como la esfera del mundo y su fuente (Unisphere), y las dos torres que se asemejan a OVNIS. Para cinéfilos, aquí se rodaron varias escenas de la película Men in Black. Al lado se celebra el Open USA. En definitiva, esta zona tiene un poco de todo: bonitos jardines para pasear, el estadio donde se celebra el OPEN USA cada año, el museo de Queens (antigua sede de la ONU), el globo terráqueo... para hacer buenas fotos

Seeing this from the ground and now also seeing this from the air it’s a very majestic structure. Well worth spending your time in Queens to check it out. Really quite one-of-a-kind

Is the Unisphere fountain open and active with the water fun the children love so much? We hope to go during Memorial Day weekend on Saturday for a family picnic but need to know if the fountain in the sphere is working.

Far to walk (5 miles or so). But easy 7 train ride to Flushing (20 mins).

No idea. Maybe if you do a search online, you might learn more. When I was there the fountain was not on.
