I came to have lunch at Brophy Bros. The food is always excellent. The restaurant itself is clean, pleasant and good service. However, I have to muster up up the will to drop my standards to walk around the village because it is always dirty and unsightly. Take the hallway downstairs from Brophy Bros where the restrooms and elevator is located…the area is dark, unpainted and clearly a place for mendicants to get out of the weather. The floors are absolutely filthy and smells of urine - not terribly inviting when you’re going upstairs to dine! This place makes the black hole of Calcutta look like a spa. Over the years, business has dropped…I wonder why.

But quantity does not equal quality. The three places that we visited over two days were ok. Nothing special. It is nice if you are staying at the Four Points Hotel since it is close.

Great Harbor Village restaurants, ice cream and chocolate’s stores, French Bakery and Restaurant, Greek Restaurant etc. rentals for kayaks and electric boats, and tour boats to the Channel Islands.

My wife and I hadn't been here in ... 10 years or more. At that time, we were just here on the spur of the moment, and came across a Dog Obedience Exhibit, which was very interesting. We had always enjoyed our visits here.
This time, we planned to just come out and relax, tired of the COVID homebound, and just wanted to go out and relax on a Saturday.
We were not disappointed. We arrived here a bit before 11 am, wandered around at some of the shops and thoroughly enjoyed our walk.
Then we stopped at Andrieas, with Brophy right across the parking lot. There wasn't any particular reason to pick one over the other, though we had eaten at both places on our past visits. Both restaurants had a long line around 11:30; it took us about 15 minutes standing outside (safe distancing!) waiting to give our order, and another 15-20 minutes before our "take-out" delivery package was ready. I had grabbed a table while my wife waited for our food to come. Food was very good.
After lunch, we walked to the beach, changed our footwear for something more suitable for sand and water, climbed a slight slope and then down to the beach.
We just relaxed and walked right by the water's edge, dodging waves now and then, and just picking up little pebbles here and there.
After about an hour, we decided to slowly walk back to the Village, and just leisurely walked and relaxed, looked out the harbor at various boats and yachts, before heading to the parking lot near by and went home.
The crowd wasn't overly too bad, though there were enough tourists wandering thru the Harbor, as well as waiting in line at many restaurants. We noticed that there were quite a few dogs walking with their owners, and it also seemed that many of the restaurants we happen to look into, allowed pets.
All in all, enjoyable day.

We rode our bicycles from our hotel to this location so we could eat lunch at a restaurant we wanted to try out. It was a Saturday and despite the COVID-19 pandemic everyone else had the same idea as we had. The place was very busy and the restaurants were jam packed with the one we wanted to eat at having the waitlist closed. We jumped back on the bicycles and headed to Main Street to dine there instead. The city needs to add bike rack locking areas and more benches for people to sit down and relax.

We spent a memorable day at the picturesque harbor - so much to do in a small, walk-able area! We visited the Robert J. Lagomarsino Visitor Center, took a wildlife watching cruise with Island Packers, had lunch at Brophy Brothers and browsed some shops. We were there during the day, but I also saw advertisements for a comedy club and an escape room. For the water-lovers, watercraft rentals are available and Harbor Cove Beach is just across the parking lots. We saw pelicans, sea lions and a great blue heron right in the harbor. Parking is free and most of the attractions are pet-friendly. It does fill up on nice days so arrive early.

We couldn’t really find a village or easy place to walk around. Parking was hectic. We did take a tour with the Island Packers.

Such a pretty place to visit! We enjoyed walking along the fishing boats! Cute little shops around. Some nice restaurants there. ou can get the boat there to go whale watching!!

Ventura Harbor is a great place for a leisurely walk and shopping. Top This Chocolate made it totally worth the visit. The concept is wonderful.....pick your favorite type of chocolate (milk, dark, or white) and then add whatever ingredients you want....nuts, candy, cookies, gummy bears, sprinkles, potato chips, goldfish, etc. Their chocologists then make it into a chocolate bar or you can have a liquid chocolate cup. DELICIOUS!
They also have prepared chocolates for purchase. Do not miss this place!!

The Ventura Harbor is an excellent place to visit especially for a evening stroll in the spring or fall. The ocean air is amazing. It’s great for families and couples and artists. There are plenty of options for meals. Views from restaurants are amazing. The seafood restaurants are a good choice. It’s fun the see the fishermen get ready to get out to sea. Great coffee shop. Take a harbor boat tour ( the guide is a little grumpy). There are seals in the harbor. The channel island national park visitor center is nice. Lastly, the beach nearby is Ventura’s best kept secret. you’ll be the only person on a vast very long (miles) gorgeous beach with great views of the city and islands. Overall the harbor is great. If you are an artist or photographer, this is a great place for subjects, especially on an evening post sunny or clear day.

Sorry, I missed your question until now. I did see buses coming into the village area and sine the little museum is at the end I am sure it must be on the bus route. I hope you were able to make it to the little village and that you enjoyed the views. I found it to be a quaint little seaport village and the food at the little seafood café we stopped at was really good. I found I really enjoyed Ventura, I hope you did too

I noticed this weekend that there were jet skis lined up at the harbor! Where can you actually take the jet ski once rented? Are the rules the same for jet skis (can't take them out of the harbor)? Thanks for the help!

Yes, you can rent the jetskis! They are a new rental from Ventura Boat Rentals. There are certain restrictions as to where you can take them. The best way to find out is to contact Ventura Boat Rentals and ask for more information; 805-642-7753.
