Must do the scavenger hunt if with young children.

We were looking for things to do on Spring Break and came across this place. There is no fee but a donation. My 7 year old nephew got a scavenger hunt map and it kept him motivated and engaged to learn about the different buildings. A fun way to learn a little history about Manatee County.

Nicely preserved historical venue for the area. We spent a couple hours wandering the grounds and checking out the buildings and artifacts. A great way to spend an afternoon and learning a lot about the history of Bradenton and Manatee County

Wonderful Place!

Fantastic asset to the area, the historical park is very well set up and presented, with friendly staff and volunteers on site. Everything is so well done, and the Stephens House is a treasure, as well as Old Cabbage Head. We've visited twice in recent months, and plan to return again soon. Highly recommended!

Informative and Thought Provoking

I love visiting this place. So thought provoking. A genuine look at how people lived (and struggled) from the 1850s to the mid 1910s. The buildings like the church, the court house, and one roomed school are the highlights, with the Stephens house.
Admission is free, but it's kind of good to donate a little for the upkeep.
So much more could be made of this place. It's such a shame.

For those who enjoy learning local history this is great place. Can easily do whole park in about an hour. Buildings offer placards with explanations on them. Park benches under large Live Oaks make for a nice place to sit and there is no admission fee - donations are welcome. Great place to come with children, too as they had a playground.

The schoolhouse was our favorite building. They also have the courthouse, the Stevens house, old country store, church and a lot more. All the buildings were staged with the appropriate era furniture and belongings.

historic buildings-worth the trip

The schoolhouse was our favorite building. They also have the courthouse, the Stevens house, old country store, church and a lot more. All the buildings were staged with the appropriate era furniture and belongings. There are plenty of benches and picnic tables to sit and rest if needed. The majestic oaks provide a lot of much needed shade from the Florida sun. The self guided tour was quite informative with information outside each building. We went on a 90 degree day and were not bothered by the heat because of the oaks. GREAT PLACE FOR WEDDING PHOTOS.

Takes you back in time

First make sure you make reservations ahead of time as they only allow 25 visitors at a time due to COVID. It is FREE!! Donations are gladly welcome as I imagine it takes a lot to maintain the property. They have a great collection of antiques. The church was closed for renovation but the outside is gorgeous. The house, school and courthouse were very interesting.
Great place to visit for all ages. Very laid back, even had chickens running around. Nice place to sit and eat picnic lunch.

Nice Afternoon Activity

For those who enjoy learning local history this is great part day stop while in the Manatee County area. Buildings offer placards with explanations on them. The main building has artifacts, historic photos and lots of factoids about the area that even locals may be surprised to learn! Park benches under large Live Oaks make for a nice place to sit and there is no admission fee - donations are welcome. Great place to come with children, too.

Great 1 hour family stop

We got tons of wonderful photos at this lovely stop on our way to Tampa from Naples. Our favorites were the house, school and courthouse. Great Florida historical, free, educational attraction. We enjoyed a warm welcome at the General Store a received a map for our self-guided tour. The train out front is being renovated, so that's the only thing we missed. There's a nice play structure at the back of the park for younger children that looked really enjoyable.
